ELF Makeup Haul and Reviews
Howdy, y’all! Today, I’ll be sharing with you product reviews from my ELF Haul! I ordered all these goodies when they had their sitewide 50% off sale. I love that ELF offers high quality products at affordable prices. Throw a generous discount on top of that and it’s the perfect time to restock on old favorites and try new products.
ELF Prep & Hydrate Balm – Retail Price $8 (Buy here)
This convenient, versatile water based primer stick instantly hydrates skin to improve skin texture and to prep skin for makeup application. Infused with shea butter, cocoa, aloe, and grape to hydrate skin (elfcosmetics.com). I love the convenience of this moisturizer/ primer in a solid, stick form. The packaging is adorable, and makes it a breeze to quickly swipe on the go. The gel is slightly cooling on the skin and hydrates without feeling overly oily or greasy. Overall Rating: 9/10 stars.
ELF Illuminating Primer Mist – Retail Price $8 (Buy here)
This water-based primer mist preps skin for smooth makeup application and a radiant look. The soft illuminating formula creates an instant glow and is enriched with purified water, cucumber, and vitamins B and E to nourish the skin leaving it looking dewy and fresh (elfcosmetics.com). The packaging is so chic in its simplicity and clean lines. I admittedly had low expectations as I’ve always been skeptical of primer waters, but this is actually really nice! It won’t fill in large pores, so I would skip this if you’re going for a full coverage face. However, for a natural everyday look, it works great for hydrating the skin before foundation application. I used this as a base for a particularly drying foundation and it helped glide on top so much smoother. Overall Rating: 10/10 stars.
ELF Gotta Glow Lip Tint in Perfect Peach – Retail Price $6 (Buy here)
This innovative lip tint reacts with the chemistry of your lips to deliver a personalized, perfect shade of pink, berry, or peach! The ethereal hue gives a sheer flush of color that enhances the natural beauty of your lips. The gel-based formula glides on smoothly and is infused with Shea Butter to moisturize and nourish (elfcosmetics.com). I got sucked in by the cool packaging and concept, but I’m happy with the end result! The formula is so hydrating and glides on the lips, like buttaah. Everyone will get different results depending on their body chemistry. On me, the neon orange fades to a very natural, glossy peach shade. This lip tint gives a lovely sheer wash of color, much like how your lips would look after eating a popsicle. It will be going in my beach/ pool bag for the easiest summer lipcolor. Overall Rating: 10/10 stars.
ELF Liquid Matte Lipstick in Praline – Retail Price $5 (Buy here)
This Liquid Matte Lipstick achieves a long lasting, gorgeous matte finish. The slim, diamond shaped applicator gives you flawless application in just one stroke (elfcosmetics.com). Praline is a lovely mauvey rose shade that screams, “Fall”. The formula reminds me a lot of Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips. It has a liquid consistency, but applies smoothly, pigmented, and opaque. It takes about 20 seconds to set to a full matte finish and fades comfortably as you eat and drink. For $2.50, I have no complaints about this liquid lipstick and would happily pick up another nude shade. Overall Rating: 10/10 stars.
ELF Stardust Glitter Eyeliner in Sea Foam – Retail Price $4 (Buy here)
This gel glitter liner transforms your existing eyeliner to a metallic finish. The superfine glitter formula is perfect for layering over eyeliner for a dramatic effect or wearing alone for a sheer wash of glitter color (elfcosmetics.com). This duochrome liner shade is so sparkly and gorgeous. Be forewarned, the formula is not the most opaque, so I would not recommend wearing it alone or even over another liquid liner. You will be disappointed with the lack of color payoff. However, it looks stunning as a glitter topper in the center of the lids or as a pop of glitter in the inner corners of the eyes. Overall Rating: 9/10 stars.
ELF Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Black – Retail Price $3 (Buy here)
The long-lasting Precision Liquid Eyeliner formula and pigment rich color glides on smoothly for defined and precise lines. Features a tapered brush design to create thin or bold lines for a custom look (elfcosmetics.com). I really enjoy ELF’s Expert Liquid Eyeliner, which retails for $2, so I decided to give this a go. Other than the sleeker, matte black packaging, I don’t see much of an improvement in the formula. If anything, I prefer the brush of the Expert Liquid Liner, which draws a more precise sharp wing. This isn’t a bad eyeliner at all, but given the choice between the two, I say, save your $1 and go for the original. Overall Rating: 7/10 stars.
ELF Dewy Setting Mist – Retail Price $8 (Buy here)
Achieve a healthy-looking glow with this coconut infused makeup setting mist. This setting spray gives your makeup lasting power that hydrates and conditions the skin (elfcosmetics.com). I must sound like a broken record by now, but ELF is killing it with the packaging! The sleek nude bottle is so chic and this smells ahhmazing, just like yummy coconuts. My only complaint is the spray nozzle. Good grief, the spray nozzle is intense! Be wary and spray from a distance because this will splatter in your face, if you are not prepared. Other than that, I am obsessed with this dewy mist. It blends foundation and powders into the skin beautifully and gives you a gorgeous luminous glow without a shimmer or glitter in sight. Overall Rating: 10/10 stars.
ELF Makeup Mist & Set – Retail Price $6 (Buy here)
Our Makeup Mist & Set Spray is designed to hold your face and eye makeup in place all day and to revitalize makeup color with just a few sprays. The formula contains aloe, green tea, cucumber, and vitamins A, C, and E to soothe and hydrate the skin (elfcosmetics.com). If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you’re probably sick of hearing about this setting spray, but I can’t help it. This is so good! It hydrates, melts powders into my skin, locks in my makeup all day, and is super affordable. What more do you need?! Now, ELF has started offering this in the larger 4.1 oz bottle, so I had to stock up. Overall Rating: 10/10 stars.Have you tried any of these ELF products? What are your favorite ELF products?
XO,
Mary Dee
