Ipsy May 2017 Glam Bag Unboxing and First Impressions
Hi y’all! It’s mid-month already so you know what that means. The subscription boxes are trickling in 😉 Today, I’ll be sharing with you the contents of my May Ipsy Glam Bag! Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that provides 5-6 sample/full-sized items for $10/month. What I like about Ipsy is that the price encompasses shipping, and it regularly includes full sized products in a cute cosmetics bag.
May’s theme is Ipsy Summer Friday and the Glam Bag comes with 5 products in this oblong, transparent, ice cream-design bag.
- Trestique Matte Lip Crayon in Tuscan Wine – Deluxe Sample Sized – (trestique.com)
This matte lip crayon glides on instantly with velvety color, and it feels ultra-soft yet weightless on lips. Its pure matte color is buildable, with a lasting, matte finish (sephora.com). This is a flattering wine shade that is perfect for everyday wear. The formula is pigmented, coating the lips in even color in one swipe and dries down to a comfortable matte finish. It is not at all transfer-proof, but will last between meals. I dig this formula ?
- Adesse Organic Infused Nail Lacquer in Surfer Girl – Full Sized (11 ml) – Retail Price $18 – (adesseny.com)
A revolutionary long-wearing, fast drying nail polish that gives your nails the “plump” look of a gel manicure without a UV or LED lamp (adesseny.com). O my lanta, I am in LOVE with this gorgeous robin egg blue shade ? It just screams Spring and Summer to me. The brush does a good job of distributing color evenly over the nail. I did have to do 3 thin coats to get full opacity and a shiny finish, but it was totally worth it for this beautiful shade.
-
Luxie Precision Foundation Brush – Full Sized – Retail Price $23 – (luxiebeauty.com)
A larger traditional foundation brush designed to help you apply your foundation more efficiently while still maintaining an airbrushed finish with the coverage of your liking (luxiebeauty.com). I love the adorable periwinkle handle and the bristles are super soft, as I’ve come to expect from the Luxie brand. I tried using this 660 Brush for foundation application, but I found it left a streaky finish as the bristles are not very densely packed. It worked better for blending out the undereye concealer and for packing on highlighter on the cheekbones.
- Starlooks Pro Luxe Pen Artist Edition – Full Sized – Retail Price $19 – (starlooks.com)
This luxurious formula is super pigmented and provides a rich, beautiful, black. The felt applicator allows you to create precise lines that last all day (starlooks.com). This felt tip is not as fine as I would like, but the formula is pitch black, dries quickly and semi-matte. What makes this liquid eyeliner so unique though is the star stamp on the other end. I don’t have anything like this in my collection and I’m not sure when I’ll next be rocking a starry-eyed look, but it’s still super cool 😉
- Urban Decay Afterglow Powder Highlight in Sin – Sample Sized – (0.08 oz)
Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Highlighter isn’t your average highlighter; Urban Decay took the time to finely mill the powder until it was just right. The result: a lightweight (yet luxurious) feel and a super-soft, creamy texture (ulta.com). The formula of this highlighter is creamy to the touch and buildable. It adds more of a sheen to the highpoints of the face rather than an ultra reflective glow. Sin is a pale pearly shade that would really flatter fairer skintones. However, it is a bit ashy against my tanned skintone.Overall Rating: I would give this month’s Glam Bag a rating of 8/10 stars, based on my first impressions. May’s bag contain 3 full-sized products with a total retail value of $60, making it a great value. I liked that this month’s selection was mostly makeup which I prefer to receive in these beauty subscriptions. My favorite picks of the batch are the Trestique Lip Crayon and the Adessa Nail Polish ?
What did you receive in your May Ipsy Glam Bag? Which products are you most excited to test out?
XO,
Mary Dee
