Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches
Hi, dolls! I hope you all had a wonderful week. Today, I’m bringing you my review of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Eyeshadow Palette! I’m generally a fan of the ABH Eyeshadow Palettes and have reviewed quite a few. You can find my blogpost reviews on the cult fave Modern Renaissance Palette (review here), limited edition Master Palette by Mario (review here), and more controversial Subculture Palette (review here) . Despite my previous varied experiences with Anastasia’s Eyeshadow Palettes, I felt I gave Prism a fair shot. What it is: A luxe holiday eye shadow collection with 14 shades of universal neutrals and prismatic metallics (sephora.com).Price: $32 $42 (on sale when last checked on 2/15), 14 x 0.02 oz (sephora.com)
Packaging: This has the same suede texture exterior as the Modern Renaissance and Subculture Palette, except in black with gold writing. The color combo along with the geometric design is tres chic. It is also the same size, includes a mirror, and a great quality dual-ended eyeshadow brush.
Color: When I first looked at this palette, I was immediately drawn to the shades Osiris, a metallic violet, and Throne, a metallic blue-green. Eden, Saturn, and Parallel make great transition shades and I appreciate that they included a black shade, Obsidian. I initially thought I could create a complete eye look with Lucid and Unity as brow bone highlights, but Lucid has too much pink reflects and Unity is too dark, even with my tanned skintone. For a brow bone highlight, you’ll have to pull in another eyeshadow from elsewhere.Finish: There are 7 Ultra Matte Shadows (Eden, Unity, Sphere, Obsidian, Parallel, Saturn, and Lure) and 7 Metallic Shimmer Shadows (Lucid, Sphinx, Osiris, Dimension, Pyramid, Throne, and Eternal) so there is an even split between matte and shimmer shades.Formula: The matte eyeshadows are very pigmented and blend beautifully. They’re on the softer side, so be wary there is a fair amount of kick-up and fall out when dipping your brush in the shadows. Now, as for the metallic shades… I am not as keen 😞 Their formula is very creamy in texture, so there is no kick up, but I had a problem picking up product with my brush. They look gorgeously pigmented in finger swatches, but I felt it lacked oomph on the eyes, unless you really pack it on the lid directly with your fingers.Swatches:Application:Overall Rating: I was not completely blown away by the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette so I award it a rating of 6/10 stars. Although the mattes in this Prism Palette were pigmented and blendable, I found the metallic shades lackluster. They were not bad, but their pigmentation and performance on the lids were underwhelming compared to, for example, Colourpop’s metallic eyeshadows, which pack an immediate punch and are more affordable. Now, the shade selection comes down to a matter of personal preference, so someone else might very well adore these shades, I was generally let down by the color scheme. For those reasons, this is personally my least favorite ABH Palette I’ve tried thus far 😲
Have you tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette? I would love to hear your thoughts and your personal experience with the product below.
