Arctic Fox Ritual Hair Color Review: How I Color My Hair Burgundy at Home
Hi dolls! Today, I’m sharing with you how I color my hair burgundy at home using the Arctic Fox Hair Color in Ritual! I’ve tried Arctic Fox’s Vegan Hair Dyes in the past and LOVED the results. However, this was my first time trying the shade Ritual and I thought it would be fun to take you along for the journey!Disclaimer: I am not a hair professional or expert, just someone who is perfectly content with coloring my own hair at home. I love experimenting! I have colored (and bleached!) my own hair all my life and will happily continue to do so. If you are unsure of whether or not to color your own hair, please do a strand test beforehand and/or proceed at your own risk.

Because Arctic Fox’s Hair Color Dyes are deposit-only, it will not lift or lighten hair, it doesn’t require a developer, and the color is temporary. My starting hair color is light blonde/ platinum that had been colored with Arctic Fox’s Purple Rain, with about 3 weeks fade. In hindsight, this cotton candy pink was pretty darn cute, no?! I guess I just got bored and wanted to go “darker” for Fall LOL You can use the highly concentrated cream color directly out of the bottle or dilute with their Arctic Mist Diluter (buy here). A more affordable option that also works perfectly fine is to dilute with any white hair conditioner. Here I chose the Matrix Biolage Color Last Conditioner (buy here) as it smells good, softens my hair, and I had an abundance on hand. You can freely use any white conditioner you want. This is where it takes some experimenting to mix your perfect shade. I start with a small amount of conditioner first then slowly add pigment, mix, and adjust accordingly. Here, I thought this was a little too dark, so I added more white conditioner.I thought this berry shade looked about right so the application begins!I brush through my hair to make sure there are no tangles, then section it into 4 quadrants, and tackle one at a time. I recommend taking very small segments at a time to fully coat each strand. It can be a little time consuming, but this ensures every strand is saturated with color and there is no missed spots. You can use an applicator brush to paint the color on. I usually start with the brush, lose my patience, and then apply it directly on with my gloved fingers. Both methods work perfectly fine as long as you saturate every strand with color. The Arctic Fox Hair Colors are the best smelling hair dyes I have ever used. It does not have any overpowering chemical smell, just a yummy fruity, grape-like scent. After I have inspected for any missed spots, and all looks good, the clock starts and the waiting begins. According to the Arctic Fox website, this hair color is so gentle and hydrating, you can leave it on as long as you want. My happy threshold is the one hour mark. One of the things I’ve noticed during the rinsing process is that very little hair color comes off in the shower, which means it is actually staying in your hair instead. That’s a good sign!
After my hair has been dried and styled, here is the final look!I was honestly expecting a deeper burgundy/ cranberry shade, but it came out more of a magenta/ fuschia instead. I had diluted the color too much, but that’s on me. It is admittedly much brighter than I expected, but I still love it. That’s the joy of experimenting right?! Arctic Fox does not mess around when it comes to their pigments, they are so vibrant! To achieve a darker jeweled tone burgundy next time, I will be using a mixture with more pigment and less conditioner. My hair feels just as soft as before I colored it and has much more shine. If you are looking to change up your hair at home with a fun temporary color, I highly recommend giving Arctic Fox a try. Their formula causes no damage to hair and the shades are all so fun, bright, pigmented, and fade beautifully. I’ve already tried their other shades Virgin Pink and Purple Rain, and loved the results! I haven’t purchased any other hair color since. Overall Rating: 10/10 Stars. Buy Here.
