Beauteque Monthly Beauty Box January 2019 Unboxing and First Impressions
I love all things related to Korean Skincare and Beauty, so I’ve been meaning to dive into K Beauty subscription boxes for some time now. After researching a couple of different options, I decided to order my first Beauty Box from Beauteque Monthly, which I will be reviewing for you today! The Beauty Box is Beauteque’s monthly subscription which supplies an assortment of 6 full sized Asian skincare, makeup, body, and haircare products for $22 (plus shipping) a month. You can check out more information about Beauteque and sign up here.January’s theme was Drama Queen and came with 6 products as promised. It also included an insert with product descriptions and directions. This came in super handy as the labels on the actual products are in a different language.
- Yuki Professional Mineral Water Glow Highlighter – Retail Price $19
Get your glow on with this dual purpose highlighter that can be used for a natural or dramatic look (insert). I had low expectations for this highlighter, but wow, it is gorgeous. The formula is very creamy, ultra pigmented, and gives a stunning sheen to the cheekbones. This shade is a pale icy silver with multi dimensional reflects. Despite its cool tones, I still think it flatters golden tan skintones and looks particularly pretty as a pop of highlight in the corner of the eyes.
- Etude House Look At My Eyes Eyeshadow in 3066 – Retail Price $9
This cult favorite eyeshadow is sure to make any look pop. The silky smooth formula glides and blends easily and can easily be built up for a more dramatic look (insert). Don’t the heart imprints just scream, “Valentine’s Day”? 😍 The packaging is very cute, while the formula is creamy and blendable. This is a pretty cranberry shade with a satin finish. It isn’t as pigmented as a Colourpop eyeshadow, but is rather muted, making it more wearable for everyday.
- Shiseido Neuve Eyebrow Pencil – Retail Price $7.99
Turn your look from drab to fab with this anti-sweat and anti-smudge eyebrow pencil that will last all day (insert). I don’t reach for wooden eyebrow pencils much these days as I love the convenience of retractable, self sharpening ones. The formula is not too creamy that it shifts around, but not too dry that it drags on the brows and the ashy brown shade matches me well. However, this eyebrow pencil could be improved by including a spoolie or sharpener on the other end.
- Quanfan Silicone Beauty Blender – Retail Price $4.99
Made of silicone, this beauty blender will help you apply liquid foundation in a flash and will give you a smooth finish every time (insert). I was always skeptical of these silicone sponges, even when they were all the rage on the internet. Now that I’ve had the opportunity to test one out, I’m glad to know I wasn’t missing out 😂 This silicone sponge does save you extra product as it doesn’t absorb any foundation, and is far easier to clean than a typical beauty sponge. However, I found it a pain to apply foundation as it just slips and slides around, and foundation ends up sitting on top of my skin instead of being buffed in for a natural look.
- Yeppen Skin Chameleon Peel-Off Mask Shine Gold – Retail Price $13.99
Watch this mask transform on your skin as it changes color right before your eyes (insert). This chameleon mask initially dispenses as a white, almost holographic cream, but changes colors once applied to the skin. You’ll know it’s time to peel it off after it dries down to a metallic gold. I felt like C-3PO the entire time I wore it 😎 I didn’t see much of an improvment to my skin immediately after the treatment, so I was ready to pass it off as a gimmick. That is until the morning after, when I saw my skin looking noticeably softer and brighter. Now, I’m a believer.
- Wish Formula Blackhead & Blackmask Home Spa Kit – Retail Price $3
The purr-fect treatment for blackheads! Target your nose and chin with the 3 step mask that removes dirt and tightens pores (insert). I assumed this blackhead mask was going to be like the Biore Pore Strips, where it dries down to a crisp before you pull it off. Lo and behold, this blackhead mask feels exactly like a mini sheet mask saturated with a mysterious serum. I was ready for disappointment when I moved onto the next step anyways, which involves pressing the black cotton swab stick against the pores on my nose. You guys. This actually worked in extracting all those nasty whiteheads! It is so gross, yet satisfying. I was so impressed with how squeaky clean it left my skin that I need to get more of these bad boys.Overall Rating: I was fairly satisfied with January’s Beauteque Beauty Box so I’m giving it a rating of 8/10 stars based on my first impressions. The Beauty Box had a retail value of $57.97, which does surpass the $22 price tag. However, it is not as great of a value as say, Boxycharm, which always has over $100 value for $21 a month. Overall, I did enjoy my first Beauty Box and I may resubscribe in the future if they have a promotion or if I’m drawn in by the monthly spoilers on their Instagram. My favorite picks of the bunch are the Yuki Highlighter and Yeppen Skin Peel Off Mask.
What are your thoughts on the Beauteque Monthly Beauty Box? Which products were you most excited to test out?
