Boxycharm August 2016 Unboxing
Boxycharm August 2016 Unboxing
Hi dolls! Today, I will be sharing with you the contents of my August Boxycharm! Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month. What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price. Let’s dive right in and get started!
August’s theme is Express Yourself and comes with 5 products.
1. Coastal Scents Blush & Bronzer Mini Palette w/ Angled Blush Brush – $13.95 + $6 (coastalscents.com)
Apply the bronzers to achieve an even skin tone, use the contouring tones for well-defined cheekbones, and blushes for just the right finishing touch (excerpt). The paper packaging is light, sleek and sturdy. I look forward to trying these powders to see how the formula compares to my beloved Contouring Palettes from Wet n Wild and NYX. The travel-friendly angled brush is a nice bonus.
2. Aloette Time Repair Serum – $48 (aloette.com)
Time Repair Serum is a powerful age-defying skin care complex, fortified with alpha and beta hydroxy acids to smooth away dead skin cells and powerful antioxidants to protect the skin from damaging free radicals. (excerpt). 1 fl oz for $48?! For that high end price tag, I will be expecting major results. I will be adding this to my morning and night routine as I am need of additional moisture for my dry skin. Stay tuned for an update!
3. Dirty Little Secret Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick – $10 (dirty-little-secret.com)
Create a long lasting velvet matte lip with this gorgeous liquid lipstick newly launched by Dirty Little Secret (excerpt). Is anyone feeling major Mickey Mouse vibes from this cute polka dot packaging?! This is a beautiful, flattering bright red color. The doe foot applicator conforms nicely to the lips, applying an even layer of color. It is very pigmented, not at all patchy, and dries down to a true matte finish. Very impressed with this liquid lipstick.
4. Douccce Cosmetics Maxlash Volumizer Mascara – $22 (doucce.com)
The creamy and vibrant formula recreates a kohl effect leaving your lashes thick, extremely voluminized, and fashion forward. The extra long bristles combined with patented SEPA technology separate your lashes one by one before adding instant volumization (exerpt). I have very short, sparse, and straight lashes (the trifecta, I know) and I can already tell this brush is too large for my smaller eyes. I fare better with smaller brushes that will really get into the roots and tiny lashes to make the best of them. However, that is a matter of personal preference. This mascara might work very well for other eye types.
5. Beauty For Real Shadow Stx in All Day Latte – $19 (beautyforreal.com)
This paraben free and cruelty free, long-wearing, cream-to-powder eyeshadow stick is easy to apply and is infused with meadowfoam seed oil to moisturize, rejuvenate and reduce signs of again (exerpt). This is a lovely eggplant shade. While the texture is creamy, it doesn’t feel super blendable when I swatched it on my hand. I am not impressed with the formula.
Overall Rating: August’s Boxycharm has a combined value of $118.95, which far exceeds the $21 price tag. However, I was disappointed in the selection of products as none of them really stand out to me, personally. For that reason, I would give August’s Boxycharm a rating of 5/10. I will likely only keep the Aloette Serum and Dirty Little Secret Liquid Lipstick, give the rest of the products away, and cross my fingers for a better product selection next month! 😉
Did you enjoy your Boxycharm? Which products are you most excited to test out?
XO,
Mary Dee
