Boxycharm February 2019 Unboxing and First Impressions
Happy Monday, everyone! Today, I’m back at it again with a review of February’s Boxycharm! You can find my review on January’s Boxycharm here. Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month. What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price (sign up here).
February’s theme is After Glow and comes with 5 products.
- Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara – $24 (Buy here)
This formula thickens, lengthens, and curls after just one coat for the most luscious, dramatic, and volumized lashes possible (toofaced.com). While the L’Oreal Lash Paradise is an affordable dupe for this cult favorite Better Than Sex Mascara, this is still an oldie, but a goodie. The thick brush and pitch black formula quickly builds volume and length without the clumps, while the packaging is tres chic. My only complaint is that it does not hold a curl, but in its defense, I have very short and straight eyelashes. Other than that, you can’t go wrong with this mascara.
- Pretty Vulgar Shimmering Swan Highlighter in Sparkling Sass – $32 (Buy here)
Capture the light with Shimmering Swan Highlighter, a unique, velvety smooth highlighter. Infused with light-reflecting and pearlescent pigments, this radiant powder will leave your skin looking bright and lustrous (sephora.com). I really enjoy Pretty Vulgar’s vintage-y packaging, even if it’s not the most travel friendly. Sparkling Sass is a pretty gold shade that would flatter medium to deep skintones. However, the formula feels a bit too dry and powdery for me, personally. I don’t think it’s a bad highlighter by any means, but it isn’t standout from the rest of my collection.
- Touch In Sol No Poreblem Primer – $18 (Buy Here)
A light, silky primer that blurs the look of pores and wrinkles, while enhancing the wear of makeup (sephora.com). After finally trying this product myself, I now understand the hype. This primer is the perfect hybrid between a moisturizing primer and a silicone primer. It both hydrates the skin (thank you!) and fills in pores. The result is a buttery smooth canvas for makeup application. I LOVE this primer.
- Sol de Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream – $20 (Buy Here)
A coconut-sugar-infused oil-in-water gel-cream that transforms dry, dehydrated skin into luscious, bouncy skin, providing up to 72 hours of moisture—drenched in deepest hydration, this is your go-to for super dry skin (sephora.com). I adore the caramel pistachio scent of the original Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream, so I was eager to put this Coco Cabana Cream to the test! The gel formula absorbs very quickly and feels so lightweight on the skin, while still providing plenty of hydration. This does have more of a Buttered Popcorn Jelly Belly scent than cocount, which is what I’d expect from the name. However, when it comes to fragrances, it’s all a matter of personal preference. I still think this smells delicious and the hubby likes it too!
- NudeStix Magnetic Luminous Eye Color in Copper Foil – $24 (Buy Here)
A super long-wearing eyeshadow pencil that provides intense color in satin and matte finishes, precise lining, and primes lids for all-day wear (sephora.com). This might be my favorite eyeshadow pencil to date. The formula is so creamy, pigmented, and glides on like buttah. It gives you just the right amount of time to blend out, before setting for all day wear. This is a beautiful metallic copper shade for creating an effortless one shadow look. I enjoyed this eyeshadow pencil so much that I want to explore other products from the Nudestix brand. Overall Rating: I was very impressed with February’s Boxycharm so I’m giving it a rating of 10/10 stars. February’s box has a combined value of $118, and I was genuinely excited about every single product in the box, which is saying a lot. Winner winner, chicken dinner! My favorite picks of the batch are the Touch In Sol Primer and Nudestix Eye Color.
Did you enjoy your Boxycharm? Which products are you most excited to test out?

Mary Dee
