Boxycharm June 2018 Unboxing and First Impressions
Hi dolls! Today, I’ll be reviewing the contents of June’s Boxycharm! You can find my review on May’s Boxycharm here. Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month. What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price (sign up here).
June’s theme is Caribbean Queen and comes with 6 products.
- Alamar Reina Del Caribe Eyeshadow Palette – $28 (Buy here)
This palette features 8 highly opaque shades, reminiscent of the beauty and culture of Cuba. Dive into the pigments and pearls found in the intense metallics, or ground your look with the warm richness of the creamy mattes. For a more intense application, refer to the shade names that feature a water droplet, these shades can be used with a wet brush—the sun symbol represents the shades that should be used with a dry brush. (excerpt). How gorgeous is the shade selection?! 😍 Despite the shadows looking very bright initially, I found the mix of matte transition shades and colorful shimmer shades very complimentary to one another, making it a breeze to create beautiful eye looks. The formula of these shadows is so creamy, buttery, pigmented, and blend like a dream. I’m very impressed with how they’re all equally easy to work with and perform beautifully on the eyes. Everything from the tropical-themed packaging to bright, colorful shadows just scream “Summer!” to me. This is my favorite eyeshadow palette from Boxycharm to date.
- Battington Monroe Silk Lashes– $28 (Buy here)
This 3D multi-layered Battington Monroe Silk Lashes enhance your look with moderate length, adding volume and length to your lashes. They’re handmade with 100% silk and impressive durability, allowing up with 25 applications with proper care (excerpt). These are beautiful everyday lashes that can take you anywhere from brunch to a date night. They feel super lightweight and don’t weigh down my small eyes. I like the look of a dramatic lash for photography, but in person, they look like caterpillars on my lids 😂 I really enjoy how natural and fluttery these look on a day to day basis.
- Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream – $10 (Buy Here)
Brazilian Bum Bum Cream is inspired by the Brazilians favorite feature, the bum bum! It’s creamy and rich in Guarana, a native Amazonian plant whose fruit contains one of the most protein forms of caffeine. The fast absorbing texture contains just enough mica to add a perfect Brazilian glow, as the formula helps your body look and feel its smoothest and tightest (excerpt). O how I wish that this was one of the full size products! 😭 This salted caramel and pistachio scented body cream smells absolutely delicious. If you love warm, sugary scents, you will want to bathe yourself in this. This just brings to my mind sweet coconuts and tropical beaches. I’m already dreading reaching the end of this little jar because I want to wear this all summer long.
- Luxie 3 Piece Flawless Complexion Brushes – $42 (Buy Here)
Handcrafted makeup brushes with high quality, soft synthetic bristles using hypoallergenic, vegan, and cruelty free materials (exerpt). I’ve developed a Luxie Brush collection solely from consistently receiving them in subscription boxes. Fortunately, they are well made brushes that have soft bristles. I like using the 516 Duo Fibre Powder Brush to sweep away excess powder after baking, the 522 Tapered Highlighter Brush to contour my cheekbones with powder bronzer, and the 660 Precision Foundation Brush to blend out my cream contour.
- Jonteblu Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Charcoal – $5 (Buy Here)
The 100% vegan, waterproof eyeliner pencil glides on smooth for an elevated eye look. Use along the upper lash line or waterline (exerpt). Despite this eyeliner swatching creamy enough on my hand, it did not apply to my lid or waterline whatsoever 🙁 I can only press so hard around the delicate eye area, ya know? Even at $5, there are better options from the drugstore. This was the only product in the box that was a total dud for me.
6. Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Verona – $21 (Buy here)Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick is a one step, full lip color that does not feather. These vibrant colors will give you a vivacious new look. They are creamy and soft in texture, moisturizing the lips and creating a long lasting lipstick effect (exerpt). Ofra makes one of my favorite liquid lipstick formulas ever so I’m always excited to add another shade to the collection. Their mousse-like formula is lightweight and pigmented, coating the lips in opaque color with one thin layer. It dries down matte, and is long lasting, but never drying on the lips. Verona is a flattering mocha nude brown that pairs beautifully with the Alamar Palette.Makeup Look Using Products from June’s Boxycharm:Overall Rating: I was so happy with June’s Boxycharm that I’m giving it a well deserved rating of 10/10 stars. June’s box had a combined value of $134, which is great as always, but they really blew it out of the ballpark with this month’s product selection. Although, I’m passing along the eyeliner pencil, I appreciated that they included 6 items instead of the usual 5. I tried narrowing it down to two favorites, but I honestly can’t choose between the Alamar Eyeshadow Palette, Ofra Liquid Lipstick, and Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream. Keep it up, Boxycharm!
Did you enjoy your Boxycharm? Which products are you most excited to test out?
