Boxycharm May 2017 Unboxing and First Impressions
Happy Memorial Day, loves! I hope you’re all enjoying your holiday weekend so far 🙂 The hubs and I just returned from a relaxing getaway to the Peppermill Resort & Spa in Reno, NV. The resort was beautiful and the staff were top notch. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick retreat 😉 Today, I’m back at it with a review of May’s Boxycharm! You can find my blogpost on April’s Boxycharm here. Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month. What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price.
May’s theme is Makeup Is Art and comes with 5 products.
- IBY Beauty Highlight & Contour Palette – $40 (ibybeauty.com)
Sculpt, define, and illuminate your features with the Highlight and Contour Palette. Chic and portable, this PRO- approved kit comes in 6 versatile shades (excerpt). First off, I like how sleek, compact, and travel friendly this packaging is. I packed this on my trip and loved how little space it took in my luggage and how sturdy it was. More importantly, I was so impressed with its quality. The powders are so soft and creamy, with very little kick up. The highlighters impart a very natural glow as opposed to intense shimmer. They work well for setting and brightening the undereye area. However, my favorites of the palette are the contour powders which are so pigmented, yet blendable. I love mixing the Contour 2 and 3 powders to create my perfect contour/shade.
- Crown Pro Round Contour Brush – $24.99 (crownbrush.com)
This super soft paddle brush can be used with any liquid, powder, or cream product for a full coverage application (excerpt). Woohoo! I have been wanting to try these paddle type of brushes since Artis Brushes took the makeup world by storm. I’m so happy to get my hands on one finally ? I personally think it’s too big for me to contour with, but I absolutely love it for applying my BB Cream and Foundation. It spreads the product effortlessly and evenly over my skin while magically adding more coverage to my BB Cream. The results are streak-free and totally flawless. The ultra soft bristles are densely packed so I do feel it doesn’t soak up as much face product, a bonus in my book! I am obsessed and want to pick up even more brushes from the line!
- The BrowGal Brow Brush – $14 (thebrowgal.com)
This double ended brow brush was designed to allow for precision and creating hairlike strokes, while filling in the brows (excerpt). This is a finely crafted brush that works very well, distributing product evenly through the brows in conjunction with the Eyebrow Palette below. No complaints here!
- The BrowGal Convertible Brow – $35 (thebrowgal.com)
The Convertible Brow is a powder/ pomade duo that acts as a powder when used dry and a pomade when used wet to fill in and apply color and definition to the brows. Each compact has a warm, neutral, and ash tone to allow you to mix your perfect, custom color. If used wet, the palette will revert back to powder consistency, ensuring the product does not dry out (exerpt). I like that they included 3 shades to accommodate a wide range of eyebrow colors. It’s such a neat concept that this product can bounce back and forth between being a powder and a pomade. I’ve tried using this both ways and yes, it really does return to powder form without ruining the product. Using this wet yields a more dramatic look, while dry looks more natural. The powders are so pigmented and do a wonderful job of filling in sparse areas of the brows. Love this palette.
- Temptu Liquid Glow – $29.50 (temptu.com)
In this limited edition collaboration with Boxycharm, Temptu introduces Liquid Glow, its first hand-applied highlighter. Formulated to deliver a radiantly luminous complexion, or to illuminate all over, this longlasting formula is designed in a rose gold hue that flatters every skintone and creates a natural, lit-from-within glow (exerpt). O my, this is a ton of product ? I can’t imagine ever running out of this liquid highlight. The rose gold shade is gorgeous and so flattering on a wide range of skintones. This highlight is very subtle so I prefer mixing it with my BB Cream/ Foundation on the Crown Contour Brush for an all over glow, rather than spot highlighting.Overall Rating: I would give this month’s Boxycharm a rating of 7/10 stars. May’s Boxycharm had a combined value of $143.49, far exceeding the $21 price tag, so the value was definitely there. I just wish they had included a lip or eyeshadow product instead of two brow products. Brow products are practical and a necessity, but not all that exciting, ya feel me? 😉 Nevertheless, I was very impressed with the high quality of every single product in my box. I’ll just cross my fingers for June’s Boxycharm. My favorite picks of the batch are the IBY Beauty Highlight & Contour Palette and Crown Contour Brush.
Did you enjoy your Boxycharm? Which products are you most excited to test out?
