Boxycharm May 2019 Unboxing and Review
Today, I’m back with a review of May’s Boxycharm! You can find my review on April’s Boxycharm here. Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month. What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price (sign up here).May’s theme is Make Waves and comes with 5 products.
- First Aid Beauty Hello Fab Coconut Water Cream – $34 (Buy here)
Oil-free refreshingly light water cream moisturizer infused with skin nourishing Coconut Water hydrocharges your skin with a burst of electrolyte-rich moisture for softer, smoother, healthier-looking skin (firstaidbeauty.com). As expected, this water cream is a very lightweight moisturizer that is best suited for normal to combo oily skintypes. The gel cream formula absorbs quickly without leaving behind any tackiness or stickiness. The coconut scent is sweet, but doesn’t stick around once applied on the skin. This is not quite hydrating enough for me personally, but I am still happy I received this instead of the GlamGlow Cleanser to pass along to my husband, who has more combo/ oily skin.
- Alamar Cosmetics Colorete Blush Trio in Medium Tan – $22 (Buy here)
Our Colorete blush trios are formulated to glide seamlessly over your cheeks while offering maximum pigmentation. Our buttery smooth formula contains micro shimmers and are completely vegan, talc free, and cruelty free (alamarcosmetics.com). I continue to be impressed with the products released by Alamar Cosmetics. Every item I’ve tried, courtesy of Boxycharm, has been precise and consistently high quality. This blush palette is so pretty! The packaging just screams “summer!”, while the formula is creamy, pigmented, and blends like a dream. The Medium Tan Palette has the perfect shade range, from peach to coral and pink. LOVE this!
- Ciate London Eye Lustre Creme Eyeshadow in Cupid – $22 (Buy Here)
The metallic, glittering liquid shadow can be swiped on for full coverage lustre, blended out for sheer sparkle or applied over any eyeshadow as a topper (ciatelondon.com). This creme eyeshadow has gold glitters over a lavender base, though the lavender is very subtle once applied on the eyes. It makes for a fun pop of glitter on the center of the lids as a finishing touch. I find that it dries quickly so you have to work quickly. Once set, I am impressed that it stays put all day without glitter fallout throughout the day. I generally like this product, but not as much as the Stila Glitter & Glow Eyeshadows or even the Flower Beauty Warrior Glitter Shadows.
- Pur Pro Eyelash Curler – $18 (Buy Here)
Instantly take your lashes to new lengths with this eye-opening PRO Eyelash Curler created in collaboration with the #1 beauty subscription box—BOXYCHARM (purcosmetics.com). How cool is this rainbow eyelash curler?! This actually fit the flat, almond shape of my eyes better than expected. It gives me a sharp curl (which I need!), without pinching my skin. 🙌 My lashes need all the extra boost they can get, so no complaints here!
- Oryza Opaline Top Gloss in Champagne Cocktail – $14.99 (Buy Here)
Champagne Cocktail Topgloss is a vanilla scented, waterproof holographic lip topper with a sheer nude base tone of white gold and emerald pearls; highlighted with silver, ruby, and gold opaline pearls giving a pink champagne iridescent shimmer dimension to your lips (oryzabeauty.com). I am personally not a fan of glittery or metallic lips, so I was not excited for yet another glittery lip product in my subscription box, but this nude gloss does have very subtle shimmers. However, take it from me, do not attempt to wear this lippie on its own. I made that mistake the first time and had the darndest time trying to remove it. Little did I know “waterproof lip topper” meant that this will dry down like a sealant, lock in, and not budge. 🙊 I appreciate that this will prolong the longevity of your lipstick, but it feels rather drying and tacky on the lips. For that reason, I know I won’t be reaching for this often.Overall Rating: I was fairly happy with May’s Boxycharm so I’m giving it a rating of 9/10 stars. May’s box has a combined value of $111, and I really enjoyed the aesthetically pleasing ocean theme. My only gripe with Boxycharm this month are the different box variations for different subscribers. Some people received the GlamGlow Cleanser, Milk Makeup Blur Stick, and/or Dose of Colors Liquid Lipsticks, while others did not. This created a lot of disgruntled customers. I enjoyed my box overall, but I’ll be the first to admit I would have preferred a Dose of Colors Lipstick over yet another metallic lippie anyday of the week. I would much rather see everyone get the same high quality items. My favorite picks of the batch are the Alamar Blush Palette and First Aid Beauty Coconut Water Cream.
Did you enjoy your Boxycharm? Which products are you most excited to test out?
