Boxycharm September 2017 Unboxing and First Impressions

Happy Sunday, everyone!  I hope you’re enjoying the first days of Autumn so far ? Today, I’ll be reviewing the contents of September’s Boxycharm!  You can find my review on last month’s Boxycharm here.  Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month.  What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price.

September’s theme is Boxy Baddie and comes with 6 products, instead of the usual 5.  Score! ✊Boxycharm September 2017 Unboxing and First Impressions

  1. Pur Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette – $34 (purcosmetics.com)

Pur Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow PalettePur Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow PaletteThis essential palette is filled with highly pigmented and silky smooth shadows (excerpt).  Wow, I am so impressed with this eyeshadow palette!  First off, I love the white marble packaging with the rose gold writing.  Tres chic.  Second, the shade selection is a gorgeous nice mix of neutral and warm colors, ranging from light brow bone shades to dark crease shades.  There are 8 matte and 4 shimmery shadows, which are perfectly balanced for creating a complete eye look.  The formula is so creamy to the touch and pigmented.  The shimmery shades on the bottom row are particularly metallic and standout.  The formula reminds me very much of the BH Cosmetics x Carli Bybel Palette.  My favorite shades are Twinkle and Dazzle ?Pur Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette SwatchesPur Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow PalettePur Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette SwatchesPur Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

  1. MAC Cosmetics Eyebrows in Lingering – $18 (maccosmetics.com)

MAC Cosmetics Eyebrows in LingeringSelf- propelling, self- sharpening, and brow- defining.  This pencil will add everything you need: shape, color and/pr density in one streamlined tool.  Like a pen, it creates its own just right point for striking arches (exerpt).  A MAC product in a subscription box?!  I’ll take it! 😉 I like that this eyebrow pencil is sleek and retractable, removing the need for a pencil sharpener.  If I could make one improvement, it would be adding a spoolie on the other end to blend out the product.  The formula is dry, but the ultra slim pencil makes it easy to create small, natural looking strokes.  I love the defined look it gives my brows.  Lingering is a soft taupe brown that is a shade too light for me, but I can work with it.  I recommend it for lighter brunettes to dark blondes.

  1. Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Strip – $6 (colourpop.com)

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in StripHigh pigmentation and a satin- matte finish in liquid lipstick form will keep your lips soft and comfy all day long (excerpt).  I adore Colourpop Lippies so I am always happy to add another shade to the collection.  Strip is a gorgeous warm peachy nude that compliments my golden complexion.  It is not too light that it washes me out, but not too dark that it competes with smokey eyes.  This pigmented Satin Lip applies beautifully and sets very comfortably on the lips.  LOVE this ?Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in StripColourpop Ultra Satin Lip in StripColourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Strip

  1. Studio Makeup Loose Blush – $35 (studio-makeup.com)

Studio Makeup Loose BlushThis lightweight blush provides a vibrant pop of color for the most natural, healthy look. (exerpt).  There is a ton of product in this jar, 0.24 oz to be exact.  This is more blush than I can use in a lifetime ? Knowing myself, I just don’t have the patience for loose blush and will get tired of the formula before I ever run out of product.  I would rather pass this along to a friend who would get more mileage out of it.

  1. BareMinerals Face Perfecting Brush – $28 (bareminerals.com)

BareMinerals Face Perfecting BrushThis patented makeup brush lets you adjust your foundation coverage by the drop for a perfectly seamless foundation application (exerpt).  This brush has the shape of a flat top kabuki, except with a small reservoir for foundation.  The concept is unique, but unfortunately, not as successful in application.  The bristles are soft and tightly packed, but I find the reservoir absorbs most of the foundation.  I have to really buff the brush into the skin as opposed to gliding effortlessly over it.  This isn’t a terrible brush as it gets the job done, but for the price tag, I don’t think this is worth it ?BareMinerals Face Perfecting Brush

6.  Brigeo Don’t Despair Repair Deep Conditioning Mask – $20 (briogeohair.com)

Brigeo Don't Despair Repair Deep Conditioning MaskAn intensive weekly treatment to restore essential hydration and enhance hair’s residence to protect against future damage (exerpt).  I’ve enjoyed every Briogeo hair product I’ve received in my subscription boxes so I’m happy they included this deluxe size as a bonus product.  Briogeo Conditioners all have a fresh, sweet scent and provide added moisture to dry hair.  I will be packing this deep conditioning mask on my trip next week to nourish my hair from all the sun, pool, and surf ?

Overall Rating:  I am obsessed with this month’s Boxycharm so I award it a rating of 10/10 stars.  September’s box has a combined value of $141, far exceeding the $21 price tag.  Despite passing along the blush, I am very satisfied with the overall product selection and their performance.  My favorite picks of the batch are the Pur Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette and Colourpop Satin Lip.

Did you enjoy your Boxycharm?  Which products are you most excited to test out?

XO,

Mary Dee
