Boxycharm x Fenty Beauty Premium March 2020 Unboxing and Review
Happy Friday, everyone! Today, I’m sharing with you my review of March’s Boxycharm Premium! March offers a unique box as it is a first time brand collaboration with Fenty Beauty by Rihanna! Instead of the usual Boxycharm Premium which includes 6-7 full-sized items for $35/month from multiple brands, this is entire box of products curated by Fenty Beauty. You can find my review on February’s Boxycharm Base here and Boxycharm Premium here. The Fenty Beauty Boxycharm Premium comes with 6 products.
- Fenty Beauty Trophy Wife Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter – $36 (Buy here)
A weightless, long-wear, cream-powder hybrid highlighter for the face and eyes in a range of shades, from subtle to supercharged, in solos and expertly-paired duos (sephora.com). Is this a unique, even innovative highlighter color? Yes, absolutely. But I would have loved to have seen a more neutral, wearable, and universally flattering shade. I’m already pretty darn yellow, I don’t need to be looking like Big Bird 🐥. I just don’t see myself reaching for this everyday, which is a shame because the compact is beautiful.
- Fenty Beauty Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick in Chili Mango – $28 (Buy here)
A magnetized makeup stick in a long-wear, light-as-air, shimmer formula to highlight, blush, and enhance in 15 colorful shades that let you play (sephora.com). When Boxycharm started releasing the spoilers online, boy was I dreading I would be receiving the Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick in the bright orange color… and now here we are 😂 Chili Mango looks alarmingly neon in the tube, but once blended out, gives a pretty, peachy flush to the skin. The warm peach with gold shimmers pairs surprisingly well with my medium/tan skin tone. I like to multi purpose this as a blush, eyeshadow, and lippie for a natural, monochromatic look. The magnetic, nude, and hexagonal packaging is a cool bonus!
- Fenty Beauty Morrocan Spice Eyeshadow Palette – $29 (Buy Here)
A palette of 16 long-wearing Moroccan-inspired shades ranging from matte to shimmer finishes—perfect for spicing up your look in limitless ways (sephora.com). The packaging with the sleek, mirrored compact and hexagonal eyeshadow layout is very aesthetically pleasing, no complaints there. The shade selection, while pretty, is nothing groundbreaking. I gravitated a lot towards the warm browns for an easy, everyday smokey eye. The matte shadows blend well enough while the shimmers act more like glittery toppers. Overall, this is a nice palette, but not standout enough for me to reach for it often.
- Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Diamond Milk – $19 (Buy Here)
An ultimate, gotta-have-it lip gloss with explosive shine that feels as good as it looks (sephora.com). This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I’m waiting for the metallic/glittery lips trend to go away forever 🙊 I just never reach for any gloss or lipstick in my collection that have glitter in them. That said, the shimmers in this gloss are very subtle (whew!), so I can still get some mileage out of this. Diamond Milk is a clear, luminizing shade that can be layered over any other lip color for a glossy finish. The formula is shiny without being sticky, and I dig the sweet, fruity scent.
- Fenty Beauty MatteMoiselle Plus Matte Lipstck in Shawty – $18 (Buy Here)
An ultra-slim lipstick with a long-wearing, petal-soft matte finish, created in a rainbow of weightless, color-intense shades designed to flatter all skin tones (sephora.com). The ultra slim lipstick bullet contours nicely to the lips delivering opaque color with one swipe. The formula is on the drier side, though that is the price of being matte, I suppose. I would have preferred a peachy/ pinky nude any day of the week, but I will take this dusty warm chestnut brown shade over the bright pink or blue, which were also potential options.
6. Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Paper – $16 (Buy Here)
A set of ultra-portable blotting papers in a super-chic, refillable mirrored compact that looks like a lipstick case (sephora.com). The packaging is cute and compact, perfect for throwing in your purse and taking on the go. I appreciate that the blotting papers can be refilled, reducing the plastic compact from going to waste. I don’t personally have oily skin, but $16 for blotting paper? Girl, get yourself a toilet seat cover (new and clean, of course!). It is the exact same material and gets the job done. Trust me, it really works! ;)Overall Rating: I’m fairly satisfied with March’s Boxycharm Premium so I’m giving it a rating of 7/10 stars. March’s box has a combined value of $143, which is a lower than the norm for Premium. When Boxycharm first announced it would include an entire box of Fenty Beauty products, I was over the moon with excitement. As the spoilers were released throughout the month, my excitement dwindled down quickly. I would have been much more happy had the box included more face products, such as the Fenty Beauty Foundation or Concealer. Still, I don’t regret upgrading to Premium this month, as it gave me the opportunity to try a brand that was new to me. My favorite picks of the batch are the Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick and Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer.Did you enjoy your Boxycharm? Which products are you most excited to test out?

Mary Dee
