Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation Review

Catrice recently expanded their foundation and concealer shade range to include deeper skintones.  Naturally, I was excited to be able to finally try out their formulas!  You can find my review of the Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealers here.  As promised, today I will be reviewing the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation!Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer Review
What it is: Hi-Def Coverage! Catrice’s HD Liquid Coverage Foundation is an ultra-lightweight, high coverage foundation for a natural looking finish (amazon.com).
Price: $10.99, 1.05 oz, Buy hereCatrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation Review
Packaging:  The glass packaging, while not the most travel friendly, is so chic!  I love everything from the frosted glass bottle to the dropper to dispense just the right amount of foundation everytime.Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation Swatches in Desert Beige
Formula:  This foundation’s claims to be “mattifying” and to have a “second skin effect” are spot on.  It has a very lightweight, watery formula that dries down very quickly, so I recommend blending it into the skin right away.  Despite its runny consistency, it provides buildable full coverage with a true matte finish.  Even when I apply this foundation over a hydrating primer, it can look rather drying initially.  For that reason, I only use a little setting powder over the undereye concealer instead of all over, followed by a healthy spritz of setting spray to melt all the products into my skin.  The foundation has incredibly long lasting staying power, even without any powder, which I appreciate!  Ironically, this is one of those rare foundations that looks better on me as the day progresses.  I am so impressed with how fresh my skin looks at the end of the night after a full day’s wear.  It seriously looks even more smooth and flawless than when I inititally applied the foundation.Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation Review
Shade Range: There are currently 18 shades offered, which isn’t the best, but still a vast improvement than before. The Catrice website has a shade finder tool that lists the shade undertones, but I wished they also provided shade descriptions.  Any additional information helps when it comes to finding your color match online. Swatches: Desert Beige falls into the Medium family with warm undertones.  This is my deep summer tan shade, so it matches me perfectly at the moment.  However, I can see it being a smidge too dark for me during my paler days, so I would pick up the lighter shade Golden instead, which looks like a closer match. Application:  I have very dry skin so as a precaution, I always apply a moisturizing primer beforehand.  I like to drop a dime size amount of this foundation directly onto my damp beauty sponge (my current favorite is the ELF Total Face Sponge) and then pounce it on my skin for the most natural finish.  I feel like a flat top kabuki or buffing brush would be too heavy for my skin.  One layer is plenty of product, as I don’t mind my natural skin (or spots!) peeking through 😉 But you can easily apply another layer for additional coverage, if so desired.Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation Review
Overall Rating: Based on my experience, I’m rating the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation as 10/10 stars.  I have found myself reaching for this almost everyday for its full coverage and longlasting formula.  I just feel confident on days I wear this foundation, knowing my makeup will look and stay flawless all day.  I highly recommend checking it out as it has quickly become one of my top favorite foundations from the drugstore!
