Favorite Beauty Products of 2017: Face Makeup Edition
Hi, all and welcome to the second blogpost in my Favorite Beauty Products of 2017 series! You can find the first post on my Favorite Makeup Brushes and Beauty Tools here. As the year is coming to an end, I have compiled lists of my top favorite beauty products of 2017. These lists will include pretty much any products I couldn’t put down this year and that I would wholly recommend. To keep each blogpost from being too long, I am separating the products by categories (Face, Lips, Eyes, etc). Today, I will be going through my favorite face products, with everything ranging from primers, to concealers, foundations, and highlighters!
PRIMER
Becca Backlight Priming Filter: This primer smooths the skin, while never feeling oily or greasy, and foundation just glides on top. It gives a gorgeous luminosity to the skin and the result is a dewy, glow-from-within look.Wet n Wild Coverall Primer: This primer has the texture of a facial moisturizer, providing an additional layer of moisture, while mattifying the skin and filling in my pores. It prolongs the longevity of my BB Creams and foundations, keeping it looking good by the end of the night.
FOUNDATION
Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation: I have packed this foundation on almost every single tropical vacation and have always been impressed with its performance. This kept oil at bay, stood up to the heat and humidity, and photographs beautifully. It gives a flawless matte finish, but is not at all flat or drying. This was the foundation I wore for my wedding photos ;)Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation: I discovered this foundation this year after my Wet n Wild Haul (blogpost here). It comes in a standard glass bottle, but includes a spatula that helps with rationing and scooping out the liquid, preventing a mess from overpouring. I love that the wide shade selection includes a description of the undertones. The coverage is medium, but buildable, and gives a beautifully matte finish.Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation: I was not initially blown away by this Stick Foundation when I first received it in an Influenster VoxBox (review here). But I’ve grown to love the cream formula as my skin has gotten drier over time. This doesn’t feel heavy, gives a satin finish to the skin, and photographs beautifully.
Cover FX Custom Cover Drops: These magical drops totally live up to the hype. A little goes a long way so a full-sized bottle would last you forever. A drop or two adds extra coverage, darkens my foundation to match my skintone as I get more tanned throughout the year, and gives the most flawless finish.
CONCEALER
Colourpop No Filter Concealers: Since receiving this in my Colourpop haul (blogpost here), it has become my top favorite concealer. The formula is creamy, blendable, and gives medium coverage, that is buildable to full. I layer the shades Golden over Medium Tan and it completely conceals a birthmark I have under my eye. This concealer oxidizes quite a bit, so if you are looking to brighten the undereye area, I recommend going 1-2 shades lighter than you normally would.
POWDER
RCMA No Color Powder: I dedicated an entire blogpost review on this powder which you can find here. While the packaging is not compact or travel friendly, you really can’t beat the price point for how much product you’re getting. The non-drying and non-color-depositing powder makes my makeup last all day, all the while giving me a flawless, airbrushed finish.
Wet n Wild Photo Focus Pressed Powders: These face powders are soft, creamy, and blend seamlessly. I like applying Tan Beige underneath the eyes to set my concealer or somedays, all over the face to set my foundation. The formula is so lightweight and never feels cakey or heavy throughout the day.
CONTOUR
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in Medium/ Deep: The formula of these powders is creamy, pigmented, and super blendable. Also, the selection of Tan to Deep shades compliment my skin tone and work wonderfully for bronzing and contouring.
Wet n Wild MegaGlo Dual-Ended Contour Stick in Medium Tan: This contour stick has become my favorite way to contour my nose (when I am in the mood to do so). The formula is very creamy and pigmented, while being very blendable. The contour shade is on the warmer side, but still neutral enough to make a natural nose contour while the lighter shade highlights the nose without looking shiny.
BRONZER
Colourpop Pressed Powder Bronzer in Afternoon Delight: I love the sleek white compact with the adorable gold stars and mirror inside. The formula is so creamy, pigmented, and blends like a dream. Because the powder is so buttery soft, there is kick up when dipping your brush in the pan, which I personally don’t mind. Afternoon Delight is a matte medium brown shade that compliments my warm undertones.
Colourpop Super Shock Bronzer in Bronze Me: This matte cream bronzer was a part of the Karreuche Tran Kaepop Collection and it is fabulous. The formula is so creamy, blends like a dream, and gives the most gorgeous, natural all over bronze.Wet n Wild MegaGlo Contouring Palette in Caramel Toffee: I can’t rave enough about this contour palette. These duo powders are so creamy, blendable, and convenient for travel. The Banana Powder is a finely milled undereye setting powder and the darker shade makes a great warm bronzer.
BLUSH
Milani Baked Blushes: These baked blushes are so pigmented, blendable, and come in a beautiful range of shades. There is a slight shimmer through them that imparts an iridescent on the cheekbones. My favorite shades are Luminoso, Bellissimo Bronze, and Berry Amore.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blushes: The formula of these blushes is creamy, pigmented, long-lasting, and blend seamlessly on the cheeks. My favorite shade is Oasis, a flattering peachy shade that is a great neutral. It adds a beautiful flush for those natural makeup days and doesn’t compete with heavy smokey eyes either.
HIGHLIGHTER
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette: You can find my in-depth review and swatches of this palette here. The blushes are pigmented and fallout is minimal when dipping my brush in these powders. The highlighters are so smooth and finely milled, imparting a stunning sheen without a hint of glitter. They are insanely pigmented so a little goes a long way or you can pack it on for intense luminosity.
Laura Gellar Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators: These baked highlighters are so creamy that they have almost a bouncy, whipped texture. They give a gorgeous, pigmented glow to the cheekbones that is buildable. My favorite shades are Gilded Honey (pictured) and Peach Glow.
Essence Pure Nude Highlighter: I love this flattering champagne shade and how smooth the formula is. It gives a beautiful, natural sheen to the skin, with the option of packing it on if you desire an intense, WA-BAM highlight. I personally dig the more subtle glow on more natural days.
Colourpop Super Shock Highlighters: These highlighters have the creamiest, mousse-y texture. They can be applied lightly with a fan brush for a subtle sheen or packed on with a denser brush for some major reflect. My favorite shades are Butterfly Beach (pictured), Wisp, and Smoke n Whistles.
SETTING SPRAY
ELF Makeup Mist and Set: Last, but certainly not least, this is the best drugstore makeup setting spray, for a steal at $3 a pop. I spray this liberally after every makeup application and it melts all powder products into the skin for a seamless look that really lasts. I have gone through numerous bottles of these and will continue buying them over and over again.
Thank you so much for reading and congratulations on making it to the end! Have you tried any of these products? What are your favorite face products? Stay tuned for the Favorite Eye Products Edition coming your way soon! 😉

Mary Dee
