February Monthly Empties and Reviews
I know February is a short month, but how are we already in the second week of March?! 😅 Today, I’m sharing with you my February Product Empties! You can find my Product Empties from January here. Each of these products will be accompanied by a mini review, and recommendation on whether or not I would repurchase.
MAKEUP
ELF Lip Balm in Nude: The sleek packaging has a nice weight to it for being so affordable, but the formula is more waxy than hydrating. This has a minty scent and gives the lips a nude tint with some sun protection. It’s not bad, but there are better lip tints on the market, plus I’m fairly certain this product has been discontinued.
Maybelline Dream Pure BB Beauty Balm: This BB Cream performs like a tinted moisturizer. It gives the skin light, buildable to medium, coverage with a matte finish that isn’t too drying. The Medium/ Deep sheer tint surprisingly matches me spot on. I’ve packed this on trips and it held up pretty good, even in the heat and humidity.
Covergirl Super Sizer Mascara Waterproof: This mascara has a short bristled brush that works amazing for grabbing all the little lashes, building up volume and length, and detangling lashes to ensure there are no clumps. The dry waterproof formula works wonders for holding a curl all day long. I already have a backup of this beloved mascara.
Essence Waterproof Eyeliner Pen: This felt tip eyeliner pen is pigmented and glides on easily without tugging. The felt tip is slim enough to create a sharp wing and the formula dries to a matte finish that lasts all day. I likely won’t be repurchasing this though, as I’ve found them to dry out too quickly.
Illamasqua Precision Ink Eye Liner: The Wet n Wild H20 Proof Liquid Eyeliner has the best formula with a matte, black finish that is ultra long lasting. However, its plastic tip applicator doesn’t create the sharpest wing that I desire. Enter this Illamasqua Liner with the fine felt tip. I love using this to create the sharp wing, then lining the rest of my eyes with the Wet n Wild Liner. The combo of the two liners are bomb.
SKINCARE
Tarte Maracuja C Brighter Eye Treatment: This is an all around great lightweight and hydrating eye cream. I use it in both the morning and night. I don’t see it making a difference in my dark circles, but it does keep my under-eyes moisturized before makeup application. As an added bonus, I really like the chic gold and purple packaging.
Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence: This essence is very watery, lightweight, and absorbs quickly. It doesn’t dramatically whiten my acne scars, but I see a huge difference in evening the overall texture. I use this every morning and night to keep my skin looking more smooth, plump, and radiant. I’ve repurchased this numerous times and will continue doing so.
Elizavecca Donkey Piggy Donkey Steam Moisture Milky Cream: This is the only facial moisturizer that has provided relief for my desert dry skin this past winter. The ricotta cheese texture is thiiick and takes some getting used to, but feels amazing on severely dry skin. Both my husband and I love this moisturizer and we just recently purchased a refill.
Etude House Royal Jelly Sheet Mask: This microfiber sheet mask felt cooling and refreshing during the treatment, and my skin did feel moisturized afterwards, even if there were no other dramatic improvements. If you have very dry skin, I recommend the Hyaluronic Acid Mask instead, which I found more hydrating.
Etude House Pearl Extract Mask: Like the Royal Jelly sheet mask, this was also microfiber, felt great on the skin and added an extra dose of moisture, but it is my least favorite “flavor” of the Etude House Sheet Masks I’ve tried.
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mask: Can you tell it was a sheet mask month? 😉 The microfiber sheet felt very cooling on the skin and made for a refreshing treatment. My skin still felt hydrated the morning after, though I did not see any improvements in the overall appearance. Did this do the job of giving the skin an extra boost of moisture? Absolutely. Did it outperform a hydrating $2 sheet mask enough to justify the higher cost? Ehh, questionable.
HAIRCARE
Drybar Prep Rally Prime and Prep Detangler: This is the best detangler I’ve tried to date. I spritz a generous amount over clean, damp hair and this makes it a breeze to run a wide tooth comb through tangles. It smells good and leaves my hair looking shiny and healthy. I like this so much I will be investing in a full sized.
Have you tried any of these products? How did they work for you?
XO,
Mary Dee
