Innisfree TrueCare Korean Skincare Collection Review
StyleKorean is an international e-commerce store committed to selling and distributing the highest quality Korean skincare and cosmetics worldwide. They were kind enough to send me some products from the new Innisfree TrueCare Collection to test and provide my honest reviews. The philosophy behind this TrueCare line is to provide pure and mild, yet effective active ingredients to target skin types that respond easily to environmental change or small irritations. I’ve tried some products from Innisfree in the past, but this line is completely new to me, which I was excited to put to the test.
Innisfree TrueCare Calamine Cleanser – Retail Price $- – Buy here
The formula contains skin-soothing calamine to control excess sebum and thereby smooth the concerned area and protect your skin from unnecessary sebum (stylekorean.com). This clear pink gel cleanser has a citrusy mint scent that I quite enjoy, especially as it perks me right up in the morning. The formula lathers up nicely with a luxuriously dense foam. Innisfree emphasize that this has a pH level of 6.5 to suit sensitive skin types. I can vouch that this leaves my skin feeling clean, without any tacky residue, but not overly dry or tight. This makes for a fantastic morning cleanser. Overall rating: 9 / 10 stars.
Innisfree TrueCare PHA Toner Pad – Retail Price $15.90 – Buy here
Contains PHA to gently removes dead skin cells and retexturize skin surface, leaving skin clean & hydrated without over-drying (stylekorean.com). These cotton pads are generously saturated with the gentle acid toner and feel instantly cooling on the skin. One pad has ample product to fully saturate your entire face and neck. One side is textured for exfoliation to help slough off dead skin cells, but if your skin is feeling extra sensitive, you can opt for the smooth side instead. I tried this in the morning after the gel cleanser and was surprised by how much dirt and impurities was left on the pad. I have a decent tolerance to chemical exfoliants and this is definitely on the gentle side, while still providing a satisfying deep clean. I don’t feel any irritation or stinging whatsoever. Overall rating: 10 / 10 stars.
Innisfree TrueCare AC Soothing Ampoule – Retail Price $23 – Buy here
Jeju extract propolis quickly deliver with lower molecular hyaluronic acid, increase skin barrier with D panthenol balance moisture and increase moisture barrier to prevent skin troubles (stylekorean.com). According to the Innisfree product sheet, they promise that using one full bottle of this propolis enriched ampoule will drastically reduce whiteheads and smooth skin texture. To be honest, with just these two single use samples, I don’t have enough product to see any effects or to formulate a full opinion on this one. For first impressions though, I can say that this is a very watery ampoule that absorbs quickly into the skin, without any tackiness.
Innisfree TrueCare Pathenol 10 Moisture Skin – Retail Price $15 – Buy here
A moisturizing toner enriched with 10% of panthenol to deeply moisturize the skin and hold the moisture on the surface for a long-lasting hydration (stylekorean.com). This is a purely watery toner, with no viscosity whatsoever. There is a very mild scent, likely from the natural ingredients, as I don’t believe there are any added fragrances to minimize irritation. It instantly hydrates, absorbs quickly, doesn’t feel at all tacky, and prepares skin for your essences and serums. This generous sized bottle (250 ml) will last me quite some time. If you are looking for an ultra gentle, no frills toner that will clean and hydrate the skin, look no further. Overall rating: 8 / 10 stars.
Innisfree TrueCare Cica Intensive Balm – Retail Price $16.80 – Buy here
A gel type balm formulated with high-purity Centella asiatica 4X to protect the skin from external stimuli and resolves complex skin troubles (stylekorean.com). For something labeled as an “intensive balm”, I expected this to have a very thick, butter-like texture. However, it is actually a gel cream formula, with no scent as far as I can detect. I learned after the fact that this can be used as a spot treatment, though I had applied it all over with zero issues or irritation. The concentrated Centella Asiatica (one of my favorite skincare ingredients!) formula left my skin feeling soothed and moisturized, with minimal tackiness and no shine. I will need to use this longer to see long term effects. Overall rating: 7 / 10 stars.
Innisfree TrueCare Moist Recovery Cream – Retail Price $- – Buy here
This cream which contains 10% camellia butter, an excellent moisturizer, spreads on softly and builds an instant moisturizing barrier while quickly penetrating the skin with minimum oiliness in its finish (stylekorean.com). This might be the most heavy duty moisturizer I’ve tried in a long time. It has a very thick, buttery cream texture. If you have oily skin, I’m fairly certain you would not enjoy this, whatsoever. I have very dry skin, and even I think this is a smidge too heavy for daytime wear. However, this would make an excellent sleeping mask, particularly in the winter, as I can see this locking in moisture and healing any peeling skin or dry patches you may have. Overall rating: 9 / 10 stars.
Innisfree TrueCare Non Nano Sunscreen SPF48 – Retail Price $- – Buy here
This is an inorganic, physical sunscreen free of chemical UV block agents that might irritate the skin. Thanks to the use of non-nano size ingredients, of which the particles are larger than those of the skin, the formula doesn’t get absorbed by the skin and stays gentle (stylekorean.com).This non-comedogenic sunscreen boasts protection against broad spectrum UV rays and blue light. If you have fair to light skin tone, you might enjoy this as the cream formula smooths the skin, while imparting a dewy, pink tone up glow, which I’ve found is fairly common with Korean sun-care products. Unfortunately, this beige cream leaves a gray cast on my medium-tanned skin, something I dread with physical sunscreens. For that reason, this is a pass for me. Overall rating: 2 / 10 stars.
