Ipsy April 2017 Glam Bag Unboxing & First Impressions
Happy Friday, loves! Congrats on making it to the weekend 😉 Today, I’ll be sharing with you the contents of my April Ipsy Glam Bag! Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that provides 5-6 sample/full-sized items for $10/month. What I like about Ipsy is that the price encompasses shipping, and it regularly includes full sized products in a cute cosmetics bag.
April’s theme is Sideshow and the Glam Bag comes with 5 products in this adorable coral, raffle ticket-shaped bag.
- Hey Honey Besame Mucho Shea Butter & Propolis Lip Balm – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.27 oz) – (heyhoney.com)
Designed to care for and protect dry, chapped lips with nourishing emollients such as Shea Butter, squalane, and triglycerides (heyhoney.com). I like the matte burgundy packaging of this lip balm, but the formula itself didn’t wow me. This has a slight cocoa butter scent, but no taste. It feels more waxy than creamy, so the product sits on the lips rather than sinking in for deep moisturization, which is what I look for in a lip balm. A full size contains 0.5 oz and retails for $14 on their website.
- Mint Pear C Your Youth Vitamin C Serum – Deluxe Sample Sized (8 ml)
Visibly correct all signs of aging with one concentrated serum. Lighten, tighten and brighten with MintPear’s Vitamin C Serum (mintpear.com). This serum absorbs quickly and feels very lightweight on the skin. I was so impressed at how baby soft my skin felt where I’ve applied this serum. A full size contains 15ml and retails for $79 (yowza!). At 8 ml, this deluxe sample is slightly more than half a full size, making it a very generous size.
-
Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Angle Blush Brush – Full Sized – Retail Price $5 – (lisafrankxglamourdolls.com)
The slanted shape of this handcrafted angled brush will pronounce your cheeks in one easy stroke. Watch how the brush hairs instantly grab color and are similar to that of a unicorn; soft, fluffy, and always cruelty free (lisafrankxglamourdolls.com). Pink, unicorns, and rainbows?! Lisa Frank plus makeup is the stuff of dreams for every 90s kid. I squealed when I received this product. It’s so pretty!!! The packaging is life, the bristles are actually super soft, and I was pleasantly surprised by the affordable price tag. The angled brush is perfect for sculpting out those cheekbones with blush and/or contour powder.
- Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner– Full Sized (0.03 oz) – Retail Price $6.99 – (jessesgirlcosmetics.com)
By combining our “all-day” formula with our Japanese made, precise line applicator, Jesse’s Girl has created the perfect Liquid Eyeliner (insert). The felt tip is very fine, making for a sharp wing, and the formula is pitch black, dries quickly and semi-matte. This hasn’t replaced my favorite Wet n Wild H2O Proof Liquid Liner, but it is a nice, affordable option from the drugstore.
- The Balm Betty-Lou Manizer – Sample Sized – (0.02 oz)
Before you head out to relish some well deserved sun, score a faux, sun-kissed glow with theBalm’s Betty-Lou Manizer. Betty-Lou is a silky smooth, all-in-one bronzing highlighter, shimmer and shadow (thebalm.com). The Balm has one of my favorite highlighter formulas. I have full sizes of all three Lou Manizers and thoroughly enjoy them all. The vintage packaging is divine and the finely-milled powders are so creamy and pigmented. The Betty-Lou Manizer shade makes a beautiful bronzer for those with fair skin and a nice blush topper or highlighter for those with a darker skintone.
Overall Rating: I would give this month’s Glam Bag a rating of 7/10 stars, based on my first impressions. April’s bag contains only 2 full-sized products (eyeliner and makeup brush), but the pricey Vitamin C serum was also a generous size. The value of the bag more than pays for itself. The raffle ticket pouch is super cute, but I wasn’t blown away by the selection this month. I am holding out for next month’s Glam Bag. My favorite pick of the batch is easily the Lisa Frank Angled Brush 😉
What did you receive in your April Ipsy Glam Bag? Which products are you most excited to test out?
XO,
Mary Dee
