Ipsy August 2018 Glam Bag Unboxing and First Impressions

Howdy, y’all! Today, we will be going over the contents of August’s Ipsy Glam Bag! You can find my July Ipsy Glam Bag here. Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that provides 5-6 sample/full-sized items for $10/month. Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extension Mascara – Deluxe Sized – (Buy here)

Instantly create the look of lash extensions with this groundbreaking mascara powered by patent-pending technology that won’t clump, flake, or smear (thrivecausemetics.com). This mascara has very short, spikey bristles that grabs every lash to evenly distribute product. If you are blessed with thick and/or long lashes (I hate you), this mascara will add natural definition and length, without ever clumping. For my puny lashes, I need more dramatic volume, so I will be passing along this mascara.

Formulated with velvetly soft pigments and celestial duo chrome pearls, they create a weightless, smooth finish. These unique, ultra-blendable luminizers perfectly capture and reflect light to enhance every angle and curve of the face (sephora.com). This highlighter is very creamy to the touch, pigmented, and swatch beautifully. However, I find it applies a bit chunky and glittery on the cheekbones. I prefer a smoother highlighter that melts into the skin, rather than sitting on top, which can emphasize texture.

The Blush Highlighter Brush’s compact head allows for a very controlled application of blush and can be used with both powder and cream blushes. This brush can also be used in the hollows of the cheeks and around the periphery of the face for a more natural and seamlessly blended contour effect. (crownbrush.com). This brush has the softest synthetic bristles, which I love to use with cream products. The tapered shape works great for precisely blending in cream contour around the cheekbones and forehead.

Caudalie Concentrated Brightening Essence – Deluxe Sample Sized – (Buy here)

Glycolic Acid works to eliminate dead skin cells, whilst extracts from White Peony revitalizes the skin to reveal a more even, healthy-glow. Enriched with Caudalie’s signature grape water, the Vinoperfect Concentrated Brightening Essence also contains hydrating, soothing and moisturizing properties for a beautifully flawless complexion (us.caudalie.com). Essences are a crucial part of my skincare routine, so I was stoked to try this popular one from Caudalie. Unfortunately, this sample does not contain enough product for me to see a major improvement in my overall skin condition. I’m almost completely out of this sample after less than a week, and I haven’t seen enough of a difference to warrant investing in a full sized.

Lab For You Juice Up Kale Mask + Blackberry Mask – Full Sized – (Buy here)

Kale, pack of vitamins and beta-carotene, is best anti-stress and redness relief treatment for your skin. Tencel skin sheet will fit perfectly to skin, helping deeper penetration of essence for maximum effect. Includes 5 Kale sheet masks (labforyou-usa.com). Who doesn’t enjoy a cooling sheet mask after a long day? I look forward to trying these masks from Lab For You, as the brand doesn’t sound familiar to me.

Overall Rating: Despite including 3 full sized products, I was underwhelmed by August’s Glam Bag so I’m giving this month a rating of 7/10 stars, based on my first impressions. I enjoyed the skincare items, which made up the majority of the bag, but I wish the makeup products worked out better for me. The only products I’m excited to use really are the sheet masks.
