Ipsy Glam Bag January 2017 Unboxing & First Impressions
Happy Thursday, y’all! I hope you are having a great week so far 🙂 Today, I will be sharing with you the contents of the first Ipsy Glam Bag of 2017! Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that provides 5-6 sample/full-sized items for $10/month. What I like about Ipsy is that the price encompasses shipping, and it regularly includes full sized products in a cute cosmetics bag.
January’s theme is Metropolis and the Glam Bag comes with 5 products in this sky-blue perforated pouch.
- Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lipgloss in Blame Game – Full Sized (0.14 fl oz) – $22 (trustfundbeauty.com)
A pigmented non sticky moisturizing gloss in a pinky toned brown shade (trustfundbeauty.com). I agree that this gloss doesn’t feel sticky, but it has a very sheer finish. It might serve as a pinky nude gloss on top of another lipcolor, but it isn’t pigmented enough to stand on its own. Additionally, while the gloss has no taste, there is a glue scent that I just can’t get behind. This feels like a very average lipgloss so I can’t justify the $22 price tag.
- Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in Desert Sunset #DE-02 – Full Sized (0.05 oz) – Retail Price $14.99
Warm sunset color with a shimmer, perfectly catches light, drawing attention to the eyes. (nakedcos.com). This is a flattering rose-gold loose pigment that adds a touch of sparkle to your eyes. I personally love adding this to the inner corner of my eyes for a pop of shimmer, but this would look lovely all over the lids as well.
- Jelly Pong Pong Lip Scrub – Full Sized (0.35 fl oz) – Retail Price $19
A shea butter-based lip scrub that helps keep your puckers smooth, free from dead skin, plumped & primed. Formulated with pure golden sugar, jojoba and rosehip oil, this jar of lip polish gently removes dry, chapped skin, leaving your lips silky enough to glide that perfect colour on without it flaking or feathering on you (jellypongpong.com). I personally prefer lip scrubs in a bullet lipstick form, like the ELF Lip Exfoliator, as opposed to a jar for the sake of convenience. However, this lip scrub gets the lip-prep job done and has a yummy coffee scent.
- The Vintage Cosmetic Company Slanted Tweezers – Full Sized – Retail Price £8 (approx $10)
These high quality, stainless steel Tweezers are one of our best sellers and great value for money. Packaged in a pretty box they are perfect as a gift but don’t forget to keep a pair for yourself! The slanted tips mean these high precision tweezers also give you precise plucking and also great for all your tweezing needs. Brow shaping, removing splinters and more (thevintagecosmeticcompany.com). The vintage packaging of this tweezer is so cute! I cannot attest to its plucking powers as I have yet to put it to the test. However, in the case I don’t love it for my brows, I can always find another use for them, such as for applying false lashes 😉
- Pretty Woman Nail Polish in I Can’t Deal – Full Sized (0.3 fl oz) – Retail Price $7.99
Nail polish filled with toxins? No, thanks. These vegan, 5-free, good-for-you formulas are our newest obsession (www.prettywomannyc.com). This grey-beige shade is so unique and on trend for the colder months. It would make a cool-toned alternative to the usual nude/neutral nail colors.
Overall Rating: I award this month’s Glam Bag a rating of 10/10 stars, based on my first impressions. I was very impressed with the value of my selection of products. All 5 products were full sized, having a total retail price of $74, making this month’s bag a total steal. My favorite picks of the bunch are the Naked Cosmetics Eyeshadow Pigment and the Vintage Cosmetic Slanted Tweezers.
What did you receive in your January Ipsy Glam Bag? Which products are you most excited to test out?
