Ipsy January 2019 Glam Bag Unboxing and First Impressions
Howdy, y’all! Today, we will be going over the contents of January’s Ipsy Glam Bag! You can find my December Ipsy Glam Bag here. Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that provides 5-6 sample/full-sized items for $10/month. What I like about Ipsy is that the price encompasses shipping, and it regularly includes full sized products in a cute cosmetics bag (sign up here).January’s Glam Bag comes with 5 products in this blue striped pouch.
- Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation in Tan Honey – Deluxe Sized – (Buy here)
Despite my applying a heavy moisturizer and hydrating primer beforehand, this Tarte foundation emphasized my dry skin and pores. If your skin type is combo to oily, this may very well work for you as it does provide full coverage and the color match is excellent. I was really excited to try this foundation, but unfortunately, it is just too drying for me.
- LXMI Nilotica Goddess Glow Hydrating Illuminator – Deluxe Sized – (Buy here)
I was initially put off by the dark rose gold color of this lotion, but the tint blends away completely, leaving behind a very subtle radiance. I applied it all over my face as an illuminating base for foundation and the effect is very similar to the Becca Backlight Priming Filters. It gives a very natural glow to the skin.

Belle En Argent Lip Luire Gloss in Bored Now – Deluxe Sized – (Buy here)
I barely detect any gold shimmers in this gloss once applied on my lips, which is actually wonderful, as I am not a fan of glittery lip products. The formula is very hydrating, non-sticky, and fairly long-lasting if you aren’t eating or drinking. Overall, this is a nice clear gloss.
- Luxie 1010 Small Contour Brush – Full Sized – (Buy here)
As usual, Luxie Brushes are very well built and have the softest bristles. This 1010 Brush is the perfect size for precisely bronzing or contouring the hollows of the cheekbones and forehead. The sleek matte black and rose gold design is an added bonus.
-
Goldfaden Skin Balancing Mask – Deluxe Sized – (Buy here)
This mask has a gel formula that sits on the skin, but never really dries down. The consistency reminds me of Korean sleeping masks, only this is washed off after 10 minutes instead of overnight. It feels cooling on the skin during the treatment, but I don’t really see any improvement after it’s rinsed off. At $75 for a full sized, I don’t think the results justify the price tag.
Overall Rating: I feel indifferent about January’s Ipsy Glam Bag so I’m giving this month a rating of 7/10 stars, based on my first impressions. There was a generous selection of products that varied between makeup, skincare, and beauty tools. I just wasn’t thrilled by their overall performance and it’s a shame that the foundation I was most excited to try out didn’t work for my skin type. The only product I will be hanging onto this month is the Luxie Contour Brush.
What did you receive in your January Ipsy Glam Bag? Which products are you most excited to test out?

Mary Dee
