Ipsy May 2018 Glam Bag Unboxing and First Impressions

Happy Sunday, everyone! Today, we will be going over the contents of May’s Ipsy Glam Bag! You can find my April Ipsy Glam Bag here. Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that provides 5-6 sample/full-sized items for $10/month. What I like about Ipsy is that the price encompasses shipping, and it regularly includes full sized products in a cute cosmetics bag (sign up here).

Huda Beauty Jade #13 Faux Mink Lashes – Full Sized – Retail Price $23 – (Buy here)

Universally flattering, the graduated double stacked lashes are arranged in a criss-cross pattern to enhance root volume, while the tips create a pretty, natural-looking fringe that’s perfect for those who favour light make-up (shophudabeauty.com). These voluminous lashes look gorgeous, but…intense lol Huda’s lashes tend to be very dramatic so they look very heavy on my small eyes in person, but they photograph beautifully. I have their Carmen lash which I really enjoy solely for makeup photos, so I’m happy to add this fluttery style to the collection.

Akar Skin Nutrient Boost Eye Serum – Sample Sized (0.05 fl oz) – (Buy here)

A potent eye serum for your delicate eye area. Nutrient Boost is formulated specifically to reduce puffiness, dryness, dark circles and wrinkles. It contains goji seed oil that is rich in essential fatty acids, working synergistically with pumpkin seed oil, mushroom extract and a wealth of nutritive plant extracts to tighten and rejuvenate tired skin (akarskin.com). This eye serum is very concentrated so a little goes a long way. I recommend using this only for nighttime as it is too emollient during the daytime to be a base under eye makeup. I do appreciate how the oil leaves my eye area feeling super moisturized. A full sized at 10 ml retails for $85. Yowza.

SLMissGlam Eyeshadow Brush N15 – Full Sized – (Buy here)

The flat brush-head is made from super-soft, synthetic bristles that are shaped to make eyeshadow application a breeze. You can also use it wet to intensify your eyeshadows, and to pack on loose pigments and glitters (ipsy.com). SLMissGlam makes the cutest colorful brushes. How adorable are the ombre bristles and rhinestones?! 😍 I found the densely packed bristles soft and the rounded shape served its purpose for patting down eyeshadow all over the lid.

Oryza Beauty Dewy Glow Balm – Full Sized (0.85 oz) – Retail Price ~$14 – (Buy here)

Developed as an all-purpose skin and lip balm with UVA and UVB filters for sun protection, it is moisturising, anti-inflammatory, protective and soothing for all skin types (oryzabeauty.com). This balm has the consistency of coconut oil. It applies initially like a cream, but melts into skin like an oil and leaves a dewy finish. I’m hesitant about using this on my face because I do not want to risk breakouts, but I have tried this on my hands and lips. It is on the oily side, but provides extra moisture so I like using it as a hand cream/ lip balm at bedtime.

Deco Miami Nail Lacquer in Namaste by the Pool – Full Sized (0.2 fl oz) – Retail Price $8 – (Buy here)

This is one of the prettiest nail polish bottles I own. So cute! 😍 The bright blue shade just screams, “Summer!”, to me so I’ll happily be rocking it through the warm months ahead. Side note: Namaste by the Pool totally reminds me of the Kathleen Lights KL Polish in Porter Miami, which retails for $9.50.

Overall Rating: I was impressed with May’s Glam Bag so I give this month a rating of 10/10 stars, based on my first impressions. This month’s bag included 4 full sized items with a retail value of about $45, so it more than paid for itself. I generally enjoyed every product I tried so I will be using them all up, which is a plus in my book. My favorite picks of the bunch are the Huda Lashes and Deco Miami Nail Polish.
