Lorac Pro Palette 3 Review
Hi dolls! Today, I am reviewing the Lorac Pro Palette 3! I’ve previously owned the Lorac Pro Palette 1, my personal favorite, and the Pro 2, which was too cool toned for my tastes. When I saw Lorac came out with a 3rd Pro Palette, I was excited to test it out and see how it stacks up to its predecessors. What it is: The third edition to Lorac’s original, best-selling PRO Palette, this PRO artistry palette is packed with 8 shimmer and 8 matte eyeshadows in all the soft and feminine shades you need to create the hottest looks straight from the Red Carpet. Lorac’s velvety-smooth shadows are infused with soothing botanicals and are ultra-pigmented to perform wet or dry so you can shade, shadow, line and define your eyes, just like a PRO (Ulta.com).
Price: $44, 0.32 oz
Where to Buy: Ulta, Sephora, Kohl’sPackaging: The packaging is ultra sleek, lightweight, and stays closed with a magnetic closure. I have had no issues traveling with the other Lorac palettes, so this would also withstand the abuse of travel in a cosmetics bag. It is the same height and width as their first 2 Pro Palettes, very compact. I adore the chic, nude packaging and award it bonus points for including a deluxe sample of the Lorac Shadow Primer.Formula: These eyeshadows are very soft and powdery, so there was a lot of kick up and fallout when I initially dipped my brush in the shadows. This is not a big issue to me as I typically apply my eye shadow before my face makeup anyways. However, these really lack the pigmentation and blendability I have come to expect from Lorac shadows. The shimmer shades performed much better than the matte shades, which required repeat application to get the color payoff desired. Even then, the matte shades were rather patchy.Color: Initially, my favorite shades were Terracotta, Amethyst, and Dark Mocha. Sadly, I found the shades were not as pigmented as I had hoped. Rose Bronze would be my pick for having the best color payoff of the bunch.
Swatches:Application: I created a neutral, smokey eye by applying a mix of Blanc and Canvas on the brow bones to highlight, a wash of Terracotta as a transition, blended Dark Brown in the crease, and Dark Mocha along the lash line.Overall Rating: I rate the Lorac Pro Eye Shadow Palette 3 as 5/10 stars. I really love the nude packaging and the color selection. However, I was disappointed by the lack of pigmentation and blendability of the matte shades, especially. The shimmery shades were smoother and easier to apply than the matte shades, which tended to be patchy. While this isn’t a terrible palette, I just wasn’t impressed with it compared to other Lorac Pro Palettes or to recent palette releases from other brands. If you want to dive into the world of Lorac eyeshadows, I would recommend checking out the original Lorac Pro Palette, a fan favorite. If you are looking for a new addition to your makeup collection, I highly recommend the new Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette, which is exceptional (please see previous blog-post). Unfortunately, this palette will likely be going back to Ulta.
Have you tried the Lorac Pro Eye Shadow Palette 3? What are your thoughts on the product?
