My Current Nighttime Skincare Routine for Dry Skin

It has been almost two years since my last blogpost detailing my nighttime skincare routine (read here), so I figured we were long overdue for an update. As a reference, my skin type is very dry with hyper pigmentation and dark spots left over from hormonal breakouts. I am always rotating my skincare routine and trying new products that promise hydration and brightening.  The following products make up my current night time skincare routine:My Current Nighttime Skincare Routine for Dry Skin

Step 1: Thank You Farmer Back to Iceland Cleansing Water – Retail Price $29 – Buy Here

Thank You Farmer Back to Iceland Cleansing WaterDeveloped to gently and effectively remove dirt, oil, and stubborn makeup, this ultra-mild facial cleanser is formulated with rare botanical ingredients including Iceland Moss Extract for its soothing and nourishing properties, delivering a gentle, cooling effect to leave skin feeling incredibly clean, soft, and refreshed (amazon.com).  I soak a generous amount of this Cleansing Water on a cotton pad and gently swipe all over my face to remove my makeup before going in with a cleanser.  Unlike my holy grail Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water (buy here), this does not have an oily top layer that has to be mixed in the bottle prior to application.  This has the exact same look, consistency, and feel of water on the skin.  It does a wonderful job of removing my face makeup, though it struggles a bit with my waterproof mascara.  Still, I enjoyed the light, herbal scent and appreciate that it doesn’t leave my face feeling void of moisture.  Overall Rating: 8/10 Stars.

Step 2: Thank You Farmer Back to Pure Daily Foaming Gel Cleanser – Retail Price $28 – Buy Here

Thank You Farmer Back to Pure Daily Foaming Gel CleanserThis mild facial wash penetrates deep down to fully cleanse and rinse away dirt, makeup, and impurities without drying out skin. Formulated with antioxidant-rich Pomegranate and Fig Extracts to fully protect against environmental aggressors while the pH-balanced formula restores skin’s moisture balance (amazon.com).  First off, I love the simplicity and practicality of this easy pump packaging.  It makes me resent all my other cleansers that come in a tube LOL This gel cleanser lathers up nicely and rinses clean, without leaving my skin feeling overly dry or tight.  I prefer to use this as my morning face wash, as I’ve found it doesn’t remove my stubborn eye makeup as well as my beloved Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser (buy here).  I will be happy to finish up this bottle, but likely won’t be repurchasing this in the future, unless it was on major sale again.  Overall Rating: 8/10 Stars.

Step 3: Son and Park Beauty Water – Retail Price $30 – Buy here

Son and Park Beauty WaterSON & PARK Beauty Water acts as a toner, cleanser and moisturizer to remove impurities, while hydrating to keep the skin more moisturized and supple for a better makeup condition (amazon.com).  This Beauty Water has a variety of uses, but I like it best as a daily toner.  It has a pretty refreshing scent, removes whatever dirt and oil is left behind after cleansing, and feels so gentle on the skin. This huge bottle lasted me forever, so it is definitely a great value. I would happily recommend and repurchase again in the future. Overall Rating: 10/10 Stars.

Step 4: Thank You Farmer Miracle Age Repair Toner – Retail Price $40 – Buy Here

Thank You Farmer Miracle Age Repair TonerPerfect for aging skin, this multi-faceted formula works brilliantly to combine the benefits of a toner, serum, and essence to work effectively as one by brightening, toning, and gradually diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while the milky, rich formula aids in comforting and soothing depleted skin (amazon.com).  This milky toner feels so luxurious that it seems awfully wasteful to apply with a cotton pad.  Instead, after cleansing, I tone my skin with my Son and Park Beauty Water (buy here), then apply this as I would an essence.  This leaves my skin feeling so moisturized and baby soft, without any tacky residue.  If you have extra dry skin like myself, you will love this.  The fresh, clean scent and chic glass packaging feels extra indulgent. Overall Rating: 10/10 Stars.

Step 5: Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm – Retail Price $25 – Buy here

Algenist Complete Eye Renewal BalmThis rich, nourishing eye cream visibly diminishes signs of aging around the eyes, while decreasing the appearance of puffiness and dark circles (amazon.com). I am fortunate my only eye care concern is hydration, so I cannot attest to any additional benefits such as reducing dark circles or anti aging. This eye cream was moisturizing and made for a smoothing base for eyeshadow, but I didn’t see any significant changes to my eye area. I enjoyed the product, but for the price ($68 for a full size!), I would not repurchase. Overall Rating: 7/10 Stars.

Step 6: Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Serum – Retail Price $89 – Buy Here

Murad Retinol Youth Renewal SerumThis potent yet gentle formula helps quickly and visibly minimize lines and deep wrinkles, firm, even skin tone and boost radiance for more vibrant, youthful-looking skin (amazon.com).  This is easily my favorite Murad product to date!  I see immediate results after only one use.  A little goes a long way, so one pump dispenses enough serum for me to cover my entire face and neck.  This lightweight cream tingles slightly upon application, but isn’t enough to irritate my skin, and goes away quickly on its own.  I apply this right before bedtime and wake up in the morning with noticeably brighter and tighter skin. This serum, in my honest opinion, is worth every single penny.  Overall Rating: 10/10 Stars.

Step 7: Dr. Brandt Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask – Retail Price $52 – Buy here

Dr. Brandt Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping MaskA leave-on sleeping mask that works overnight to balance skin’s natural flora, reducing redness and signs of irritation while restoring hydration to dry skin in 24 hours (amazon.com).  I used this sleeping pack essentially as my nighttime moisturizer.  This herbal scented cream-gel has a lightweight texture, but packs a punch in providing hydration.  I can see both dry and oily skin types enjoying this mask. Overall Rating: 10/10 Stars. My Current Nighttime Skincare Routine for Dry SkinI’ve cut down my 10 step skincare routine from two years ago (blogpost here) to 7, so I am giving myself a pat on the back. Overall, I was happy with this routine, but the search for the next best thing continues and that’s through trying new products next month! My Current Nighttime Skincare Routine for Dry SkinHave you tried any of these skincare products?  What are your favorite skincare recommendations?
