My Favorite Summer Perfumes and Fragrances

Summer to me, evokes memories of blooming flowers, ripening fruit, and tropical beaches. So as springtime blossoms into summer, I like to transition from my floral perfumes to more sweet, fruity scents. The following fragrances are my personal favorite summertime perfumes for both hot, sunny days and warm, starry nights.

DAYTIME

DKNY Red Delicious EDP – Buy Here Delicious Raspberry and Litchi opens the composition in the tantalizing top notes. Elegant Rose and plump Apple captivates the heart revealing a sensual dry down of notes from Amber, Leather and Vanilla (fragrancenet.com). Everything about this scent from the adorable round packaging to the top notes has “Apples” written all over it. This truly smells like juicy, delectable apples. The fruity scent is definitely sweet, but never sickenly so. It is very light and refreshing and always perks me right up whenever I spritz it all over.

Dolce & Gabbana 3 L’Imperatrice EDT – Buy HereSucculent exotic fruits and bright pink florals give way to a musky, appetite-arousing base. Top notes: Rhubarb, Red Currant, Juicy Kiwi Accord. Heart notes: Pink Cyclamen, Fresh Watermelon Accord. Base notes: Musky Notes, Sandalwood, Grapefruit Wood (sephora.com). When I smell this perfume, grapefruit immediately comes to my mind. I love the strong citrusy notes which are clean and uplifting, but there is also a sweet, musky base that lingers well after the grapefruit fades.

Marc Jacobs Daisy EDT – Buy HereThe top of the fragrance is infused with succulent wild berries and soft white violets. At the heart, velvety jasmine warms to a dreamy dry-down of sensual sandalwood, for a romantic, lingering finish (sephora.com). Out of all my daytime picks, this scent leans more floral than completely fruity like the others. Still, it is very light, fresh, and sweet. This is a beautiful daytime scent that will take you anywhere from working in the office, to brunch, attending church or meeting your in-laws. This is just the perfect year round daytime scent.

NIGHTTIME

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Noir EDP – Buy HereA rich interpretation of the signature Viva la Juicy scent, Viva la Juicy Noir highlights the succulent ripe berry notes and gourmand accents, while adding a juicy touch of honeysuckle and a sultry hint of sandalwood (sephora.com). Out of all my nighttime perfume picks, this Juicy Noir is the lightest, as I’ve rocked this during the daytime and it never felt too heavy. I love the sweet berry top notes that is tempered with the warmer base. To me, it smells like yummy raspberries. Plus, how adorable is the Juicy packaging?! It would be even cuter if I could find the bow cap 😭

DKNY Delicious Night EDP – Buy HereFrosted pomelo and martini top notes create a shimmering opening, which gives way to a sensual heart of night orchid and jasmine. The scent dries down to a complex base that features hints of frankincense, bringing an exotic touch of mystery to each movement (fragrancenet.com). This is the dark counterpart to the DKNY Red Delicious. I still detect fruity grape-like top notes, but the base is much more floral and heavy, making it perfect for a night on the town. There is a nice balance between sweet and floral that makes it an overall, very sexy scent.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black EDP – Buy HereA bold, addictive blend of violet, sensual sandalwood, and rich vanilla strike the match on finding the perfect balance between masculine and feminine. Nirvana Black is a bold eau de parfum that inspires independence (sephora.com). This is easily one of the spiciest and most unique scents in my collection. To be completely honest, I like this warm scent, but my hubby/friends like this on me more than I do myself 😅 I’ve been asked what I’m wearing the most when wearing this scent. My biggest complaint with this perfume is its longevity. This should have been labeled as an EDT, as in Eau de Temporary. This scent fades on me after only a few hours, so I end up having to reapply quite a bit. For the price, ain’t nobody got time for that.

Michael Kors Michael Kors EDP – Buy HereMichael Kors is tuberose reinvented. Creamy florals explode into exotic spices, tamed by Moroccan incense. Notes: Dewy Freesia, Tamarind, Chinese Osmanthus, Incense, Fresh Tuberose, White Wings Peony, Blue Orris, Arum Lilies, Cashmere Woods, Musk, Vetiver Haiti (sephora.com). Unlike the aforementioned Nirvana Black, a little of this Micheal Kors fragrance goes a long way. This is a very strong, sexy fragrance that to me, smells exactly like gardenias. If you love the scent of blossoming gardenias, you will love this heavy, warm scent. Besides my Tom Ford Black Orchid, this is the longest lasting perfume in my collection. It will stay on your clothes until laundry time. LOVE this scent.
