Play! by Sephora February 2019 Unboxing and First Impressions
Hi dolls! Today, I’ll be reviewing February’s Play by Sephora! Better late than never, amiriiight?! 😉 You can find my review of January’s box here. Play! is Sephora’s subscription service that provides 5 beauty samples plus 1 fragrance sample for $10/month (plus local taxes).
February’s theme was Lovestruck Beauty and came with 6 products. As usual, it includes an insert with product descriptions/ directions and a Play! Pass, redeemable in Sephora stores and online for 50 extra Beauty Insider points with any purchase.
- Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Mask
A set of gold foil masks that brighten and hydrate (insert). I received these eye masks in a previous Boxycharm and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. The gold foil is bougie AF, but the eye masks themselves felt amazing on the skin. It was so cooling, refreshing, and left my skin plump and hydrated. Gold Eye Masks are so extra… but I’m here for it 😉
- Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet
A superlight gel-cream that hydrates and calms skin (insert). This sorbet moisturizer has a creamy texture that melts into liquid once applied to the skin. The cooling formula feels super lightweight and would work wonderfully for those with combo to oily skin. For myself, it just isn’t hydrating enough, but that’s usually the case I’ve found with gel moisturizers. I’ll finish off this sample, but won’t be investing in a full size.
- Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Maple
A high impact lipstick in a rich, brick-red color with a soft, creamy texture (insert). I’ve been on a bullet lipsticks kick lately, and Bite Beauty makes one of my favorite formulas. Their Amuse Bouche Lipsticks are so comfortable, creamy, opaque, and smell amazing. Maple is a flattering classic red that I’m happy to add to the collection.
- Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Intense Ebony
A richly pigmented eyeliner in a deep black shade (insert). This Clinique eyeliner has a creamy formula that glides gently on the waterline. It isn’t the most long-lasting, but I’ve found that to be the case with all eyeliners, unless it’s a gel formula. With its retractable design, it’s great to throw in my purse for touch ups on the go.
- Lancome Hydra Zen Anti Stress Gel Moisturizer
A drinkable blend of natural ingredients that deliver a glow from within radiance (insert). This has a very strong, mature floral scent, which may be offputting for some peeps, but I personally don’t mind. This moisturizer has a gel-like consistency, which is very lightweight and absorbs quickly. I recently finished a full sized jar of this, which I received from Influenster (blogpost here).
- Kat Von D Saint + Sinner Perfume
This duo of fragrances shows opposites attract. Saint is dreamy and alluring, while sinner is dark and empowering (insert). Saint is a pretty floral for daytime, but Sinner is my personal favorite between the two. Sinner has bolder, spicier notes that make it a unique, sexy nighttime fragrance.
Overall Rating: I was satisfied with February’s Sephora Play! Bag so I’m giving it a rating of 9/10 stars. Even though I’ve tried the majority of products beforehand, I was impressed with the overall selection and their performance. My favorite picks of the bunch are the Bite Beauty Lipstick and Clinique Eyeliner.
What are your thoughts on the Sephora Play! Bag? Which products were you most excited to test out?
XO,
Mary Dee
