I have tried my fair share of skincare, but something that is completely new and exciting to me is Custom Skincare. Through their comprehensive skin analysis and variety of skin tests, Pure Culture creates custom skincare formulas and regimens that consider everything from your diet and lifestyle to your genes and skin priorities. Because I was so impressed with their customization process, presentation/packaging, and product performance, I wanted to share with you my personal experience!

For $45, this custom serum includes a free At-Home Skin Test ($25 value), which will be the first thing you receive in the mail.
It includes a nice welcome letter, plus the test strips to determine your Skin Condition and Skin Barrier. Not going to lie, these tests made me feel giddily like a mad scientist in my lab LOL
Essentially, you follow the directions on their website to complete your skin analysis and input the results online. The whole process is very easy, straightforward, and fun!
After about 15-20 minutes, the test is complete and your very own custom serum will be created and delivered to you!
My serum arrived beautifully packaged and included all the details regarding my skin analysis, plus what ingredients are in my serum to meet my specific skin needs.
It even took into account Lifestyle factors such as my UV Exposure, Water Intake, and Sleep. How neat is this?!
This serum comes in a very chic 0.5 fl oz glass bottle with a dropper that clicks firmly and securely into place. It portions out just the right amount of product, which for myself is between 4 to 5 drops.
I love the personal touch of having my name labeled on the bottle!
Keep in mind that because this formula was customized for my personal skin type, you’ll be getting an entirely different product to suit your particular needs. The formula and results vary from person to person.
As a reference, my skin type is very dry, with hyperpigmentation leftover from acne scars. Improving texture and tone while maintaining hydration has always been my biggest skin concerns. In this case, the three main active ingredients in my custom serum are Vitamin C, Bakuchiol, and Camellia Oil. I have had great experiences with all three in the past, so I am stoked they are included in this product.
In terms of texture and consistency, this feels like a serum/oil hybrid. There is definitely a floral scent, though I personally don’t mind as it makes for a spa-like, sensorial experience. The ultra lightweight oil absorbs quickly without leaving my skin overly shiny, heavy, or greasy. My skin feels instantly moisturized, dewy, and healthy.
I still need to finish this bottle to really see the long term effects and judge if it can truly tackle my hyperpigmentation. In terms of hydration, I can vouch that this serum definitely delivers. You can see how it instantly plumps and smoothes over any dry patches.
Everything about this Pure Culture experience from the customization process, to the presentation/packaging, and product performance screams “luxury”. Admittedly, it also comes with a luxury price tag. If you want to tip toe into this brand, I recommend first checking out the Custom Serum, which can be sold separately. If you find you enjoy the serum and experience, you can always come back for their entire skincare set, for an additional bundle savings!
