Rovectin Clean Marine Micellar Deep Cleansing Water Korean Skincare Review

Rovectin is a Korean skincare brand that was originally developed for those with highly sensitive and vulnerable skin to help restore and rebuild the strength of the skin’s natural barrier. They specialize in “hypoallergenic products that safely and gently restore your skin deep down to its natural healthy state—helping you look and feel better inside and out”. Wishtrend was kind enough to send me their brand new Rovectin Clean Marine Micellar Deep Cleansing Water, so today I wanted to share with you my review!

This Deep Cleansing Water has a light watery type texture to tone your skin without any sticky residue. The micelle molecules with marine plant extracts and sea salts thoroughly remove impurities while keeping the skin moisturized with deep sea water and 7-layer Hyaluronic acids (wishtrend.com). It was only last year that I started venturing into cleansing oils (blogpost here) and balms, but micellar water is still my absolute favorite method of makeup removal. Naturally, I was stoked when I heard Rovectin had released their very own Micellar Cleansing Water. It could not have come at a better time, as I have just ran out of my beloved Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water (buy here).Like the majority of Rovectin’s products, their packaging is very minimalistic. I appreciate the generous sized bottle at 14 fl oz or 400 ml. When it comes to makeup removal, I can see this bottle lasting me quite some time, which I appreciate! As a bonus, Rovectin emphasizes that the label is easily removable for quick and efficient recycling. I thought that was a wonderful environmentally conscious touch worth noting!Like the name suggests, this has a completely watery consistency with no viscosity, whatsoever. There is also no fragrance, as far as I can detect. As a part of my nighttime skincare routine, I thoroughly saturate a cotton round with the cleansing water and wipe all over my face. It glides effortlessly over the skin with zero irritation. It gently lifts my makeup, leaving my skin feeling clean without any tackiness or oily film. My skin feels soft and clean, but not at all dry or tight. While this removes complexion products (foundation, concealer, blush, etc) effortlessly, it really struggles with waterproof liquid liner and mascara. Even when I place the cotton round over my eyes for several seconds, it doesn’t fully dissolve stubborn waterproof makeup. Despite following up with a second step gel or cream cleanser, I still expect my first step cleansing method to remove the vast majority of my makeup, which I don’t feel this does to my satisfaction.  If you wear very light makeup or even just sunscreen on the daily, this may very well perform perfectly fine for your needs. The ultra gentle and non irritating formula would benefit a wide range of skin types. However, for someone who wears heavy makeup including waterproof eyeliner and mascara, this will be rather underwhelming if not even disappointing. Unfortunately, this Rovectin Cleansing Water did not pack enough of a punch to dethrone my beloved Garnier Micellar Water (buy here). I will happily finish up this bottle, but will not be repurchasing. Overall rating: 7/10 stars. Buy here.
