Sephora Play! October 2016 Unboxing

Happy Tuesday, babes! Today, I will be sharing with you the contents of my Play! by Sephora sample box for October. Play! is Sephora’s subscription service that provides 5 beauty samples plus 1 fragrance sample for $10/month (plus local taxes). Now, let’s dive right in and get started!

October’s theme is The Cool Cut and the Play! Bag comes with 6 products in this “Lipstix & Chill”- design pouch.

As usual, it includes an insert with product descriptions/ directions and a Play! Pass, redeemable in Sephora stores for 50 extra Beauty Insider points with any purchase.

Smashbox Always on Matte Liquid Lipstick in Driver’s Seat – Deluxe Sample Sized

Matte liquid lipstick keeps going for eight hours with a water-resistant, non-feathering formula (insert). I’ve seen these liquid lipsticks on YouTube and have looked forward to trying them. The formula is very reminiscent of the Ofra Liquid Lipsticks, where is it mousse-y in texture as opposed to runny a la Colourpop. I enjoy the classic Smashbox packaging, pigmentation, longevity, and lovely terracotta peach color. I wish it didn’t have the mild chemical smell, but on the plus side, there is no unpleasant taste.

The Estee Edit Flash Photo Gloss – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.1 fl oz)

Innovative, high-shine gloss with cool blue undertones that make teeth appear brighter. It’s the ultimate must-have for selfies (insert). At first glance, I thought this was a plain, clear gloss, but it actually has a slight cool-toned irridescent to it. I don’t know about the claims to make teeth appear brighter, but it does feel comfortable on the lips, and has no unpleasant smell or taste.

Erborian Bamboo Creme Frappe Skin Reviving Fresh Gel – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.17 oz)

Deeply moisturizing gel-cream with a unique frosty, whipped texture sinks effortlessly into skin to revive and refresh (insert). This lightweight gel moisturizer will be perfect for packing along on my travels to tropical climates.

Farmacy Skin Dew Mist – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.68 fl oz)

Invigorating facial mist is just the thing to freshen or set makeup, add moisture, and soothe skin (insert). This mist is VERY hydrating. I sprayed this over my moisturizer before applying my makeup and it was extremely dewy, even after powdering. If you desire a dewy glow to your skin, you would enjoy this. As I am favoring the matte finish at the moment, I would use this at night for additional moisture. I would not recommend using this as a setting spray as the spray nozzle doesn’t dispense an even mist and you would likely end up smearing all your hard work 😉

Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil – Deluxe Sample Sized (1.7 fl oz)

Sumptous and full of antioxidants, this conditioning hair mask strengthens strands while enhancing color and chines (insert). This is a very generous sample size, perfect to take along for your travels. However, I am not impressed with the scent. It is very baby powdery and actually reminds me of the pink Johnson’s Baby Lotion.

Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris Eau de Parfum – Sample Sized (0.04 fl oz)

Inspired by a love for the sophistication and allure of Paris, this scent layers fruity and floral notes over a musky base (insert). This scent is so feminine and it lasted all day on me.

Overall Rating: I am very satisfied with September’s Sephora Play! Bag so I award it a rating of 9/10 stars based on my first impressions. The deluxe sample sizes of all the products were very generous making it a great value. I love that I got two lip products, my favorite makeup genre 😉 My picks of the bunch are the Smashbox Liquid Lipstick and Estee Edit Lip Gloss.
