Sephora Play! September 2016 Unboxing

Hi loves!  Today, I will be sharing with you the contents of my Play! by Sephora sample box for September 2016.  Play! is Sephora’s subscription service that provides 5 beauty samples plus 1 fragrance sample for $10/month (plus local taxes).  Now, let’s dive right in and get started!

September’s theme is The Unbasic Basics and the Play! Bag comes with 6 products in a simple, lipstick- design pouch.

As usual, it includes an insert with product descriptions/ directions and a Play! Pass, redeemable in Sephora stores for 50 extra Beauty Insider points with any purchase.

1.  Sephora Collection Rouge Shine Lipstick in Love Spell – Deluxe Sample Sized (1 g)

Deep glossy shine meets a go to shade of pink in this creamy, moisturizing lipstick (insert).  I don’t gravitate towards the Sephora Collection brand, but this is a beautiful pink shade in very sleek packaging.

2.  Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Perfector  – Deluxe Sample Sized (1 fl oz)

Get a full week of softness and shine with this long lasting, weightless perfecting solution that keeps your hair looking its best (insert).  The directions say to apply this treatment all over your washed, damp hair before bedtime, then wash it out the next day for 5 days of moisture.  Supposedly because it is lightweight and quick absorbing, you won’t need to wrap your hair in a towel and it won’t stain your pillows.  My hair needs all the moisture it can get!  Stay tuned for an update 😉

3.  Dr. Jart+ Water Drop Hydrating Moisturizer – Deluxe Sample Sized (1 fl oz)

Water based moisturizer provides a burst of hydration with tiny droplets while visibly plumping and boosting overall appearance with hyaluronic acid (insert).  What a neat concept!  The moisturizer comes out opaque initially and has a silicone-y feel, much like the consistency of the Benefit POREfessional.  Then, once you rub it in, it really does separate into little water droplets before absorbing completely into the skin.  I think this would do wonders for those with an oily complexion and are looking for an ultra light moisturizer.

4.  Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.085 fl oz)

Lightweight, flexible hold gel sets, defines, and keeps brows in place for a polished look that stays all day (insert).  I don’t use brow gel everyday as I can’t be bothered with the extra step.  I will say though that this is like hairspray for my brows.  Once it sets, it doesn’t budge.  I can see why this has a cult following.

5.  Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.007 fl oz)

Waterproof brush tip liquid liner glides on to reveal precise, bold strokes of highly pigmented color (insert).  I’ve heard others raving about this liquid liner so I was stoked to try it out.  The ultra thin brush is wonderful for creating that super crisp line, the color is pitch black, it sets within five seconds and doesn’t budge.  This is my favorite liquid liner pen to date.

6.  Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Verte Eau de Parfum – Sample Sized (0.05 fl oz)

Easy yet elegant scent combines the dewy aroma of lily of the valley with mandarin, neroli oil, and jasmine (insert).  This a nice floral, very appropriate for the office and daytime.  For me personally, it lacks an oomph that makes it standout from all the other floral scents.  I will be passing this along.

Overall Rating:  I am very satisfied with September’s Sephora Play! Bag so I award it a rating of 10/10 stars based on my first impressions.  The deluxe sample sizes of all the products were very generous making it a great value.  Additionally, I ADORE this month’s fantastic selection of makeup and skincare from some of my favorite brands.  My favorite picks of the batch are the ABH Brow Gel, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, and Dr. Jart+ Water Drops Moisturizer.
