The Plant Base Korean Skincare Review
Blooming KOCO is a California based e-commerce store committed to selling and distributing 100% authentic Korean skincare and cosmetics nationwide. They were kind enough to send me some products from the new The Plant Base Collection to test and provide my honest reviews. This brand is completely new to me, so I was excited to explore their offerings.
The Plant Base White Truffle Turn Over Peeling – Retail Price $15 – Buy here
Be free from rough and dull skin cause of stress and harmful external factors by regining healthy skin turn over period with hypo-allergenic peeling gel (bloomingkoco.com). I have been enjoying peeling gels immensely lately as they offer gentle exfoliation, without any irritation. This gel has a very light and pleasant minty scent upon application. You’ll quickly see and feel the physical pilling of the product as you’re working the product into your skin. The Natural Cellulose and Apricot Seeds are ultra gentle exfoliants, almost to the point of being too gentle, unfortunately. After rinsing, this left my skin feeling soft and moisturized, though not as smooth and bright as I would like. I will happily finish this product, but would not repurchase. Overall rating: 6 / 10 stars.
The Plant Base Pore N Turn Over 28 ABA Toner – Retail Price $31 – Buy here
Sweep away dead skin cell and impurities accumulated on the surface of your skin and balances pH level with AHA·BHA (bloomingkoco.com). This toner has a purely watery consistency and very familiar herbal scent, though I cannot place it at the moment. I did want to note there are small particulates, from what I have no idea, floating in the bottle, but I don’t see to feel them upon application. I apply a generous amount after cleansing, patting the product gently onto my face and neck, twice daily. This absorbs quickly, leaving a somewhat tacky finish on the skin with no tingling or irritation. This feels hydrating enough on the skin, but to be honest, it does not leave enough of an impression to warner a recommendation or repurchase. Overall rating: 5 / 10 stars.
The Plant Base Time Stop Collagen Ampoule – Retail Price $22 – Buy here
Packed with 67% of hericium erinaceium and 3 other types of natural mushroom extracts, this ampoule offers a firming effect by restoring skin elasticity. It also prevents sun damage and reduces the appearance of wrinkles (bloomingkoco.com). Right off the bat, I love the chic copper packaging. This has a unique pop top dropper that gives you control over the exact amount of product dispensed each time. The ampoule has a very natural scent, as I don’t believe any artificial fragrances were added. In terms of consistency, this might be the most viscous serum I have tried to date. If you are put off by the tacky, somewhat sticky feel of Snail Mucin type products, you will not like this, whatsoever. However, I have very dry skin, so I personally don’t mind an additional layer of moisture. I have not seen a dramatic change in the overall appearance of my skin, but I quite enjoy how hydrating and nourishing this ampoule feels on the skin. Overall rating: 8 / 10 stars.
The Plant Base AC Clear Magic Gel – Retail Price $26 – Buy here
A gel-like texture with natural AHA magically works on troubled spot and intensively care, relieve and prevent skin troubles (bloomingkoco.com). I applied this gel generously on a couple of breakouts, all in different stages of development. To be honest, I have yet to find an acne spot medication that can completely eradicate a pimple overnight. However, I did notice that this minimizes the size of the breakout while soothing the area, with zero irritation. It does not cause any dryness or peeling, which is something I dread when experimenting with spot treatments. This Magic Gel ended up surprising me with its performance and is my favorite product of the bunch. Overall rating: 9 / 10 stars. You can check out the entire The Plant Base skincare collection available on Blooming KOCO here. Which of these The Plant Base products are calling your name?
